Pastel Miss Winter

I cased her card because I had been wanting to use this stamp I bought this summer at a stamp convention near Buffalo. Remember, Lisa?

I'm so glad she inspired me because I like how the card turned out. I think it will be a birthday card for a friend whose birthday is tomorrow.

We had our family Thanksgiving yesterday. I am so glad we got together. I come from a big family of 6 children and we all STILL like each other! Our ages range from 60 to my younger sister who is 48. The difficulty comes because this is our first Thanksgiving without either one of our parents. We lost our mom almost three years ago and our dad this July. Difficult times! It was so great to spend the day with my brothers, sisters, niece and great nephews and niece. Family!

A Card and some Snow!

I just love these rats from Whipper Snapper! Look at the grin on the one on the right! Funny! This large stamp actually has three of the little cuties, but I cut one off for this card. I'm so often late with birthday cards that this is a great image and sentiment for me to have on hand! Any colors work for them! The sentiment "Rats! I missed your birthday!" cracks me up so I thought I'd show you the inside of the card, too.

The dp is from Basic Grey and the image is colored with my copic markers.

In addition, here is a picture of our backyard the other day when the snow stuck to every branch on every tree. It is so beautiful!

The little path you see goes to our shed where there is a BIG pile of wood for our wood stove. The pile is not as big as it was! :)

Winter Wonderland of SNOW!

Good afternoon! We've had another 8" of snow in Western New York! I'm so happy to have the day off!
I've made bread and rolls for tomorrow, worked on laundry and stamped! Unfortunately, this card is all I've completed! Wish they didn't take me so long!
Anyway, I tried 2 photos to see which one is closer to real life. Neither one has exactly the look of the card, but do they ever?




On with the details! The card base is Papertrey Ink's ocean Tides, the darker layers are Not Quite Navy, The dp is Cosmo Cricket (oh, Joy) and My Mind's Eye. Tilda skiing is stamped on Papertrey Ink's vintage Cream and colored with copics. The snowflakes stamped on the card base are also made by Magnolia and I got both stamps at the Magnolia-licious store.

The ribbon is from papertrey as is the sentiment in the hodge podge hardware from SU. The snowflakes are punched, then sponges to dirty them up, then covered with Crystal Effects and dipped in Diamond Dust Glitter. These were shamelessly stolen right from Anna Wight who has done some fantastic things with them! Thanks, Anna! I used a spica silver pen on the boots and on the ski pole round thingies. Edges are sponged with Adirondack Latte and Distress Ink Antique Linen.

I have been given some VERY NICE awards (on my blog) lately! Thanks to Tanja and Suzy, such wonderful artists! I have no idea how to add the little banner to my blog. If I did I would have a couple for the companies I've designed cards for, but alas it still remains a mystery to me. Suzanne Dean (love her!) sent me some directions that I have yet to find time to try. I promise I will see what I can do to get the banner going and tag some other blogs. I DO appreciate these fine women picking my feeble little blog to mention! THANK YOU!

Have Snow, Will Shovel!

The title is the sentiment inside this winter card! I made it for the Featured Stamper on SCS today!

I really like how it turned out. I made s0me of the crystal snowflakes that Anna Wight has been making and she even did a tutorial for it! Thanks, Anna! I loved making them. Wish you could see the great sparkle!

She used Diamond Dust glitter, which is actually tiny shards of glass! I entered it in the search on ebay and ordered some right away!

The card base is Papertrey Ink, Ocean Tide. Then a layer of Real Red. The beautiful dp is from Bo Bunny. The round nestability layer is Ocean Tide and a dp from My Mind's Eye. White gel pen was used to dot around the circle.The snowman is stamped in memento tuxedo black and colored with copics. The edges are sponged with distress ink, tea dye. Stickles added to the image and that's it!

Copic colors are as follows

Bg10, Bg72 and BG09

E53 for snowman

R05, R46 and R59 are the reds. I start light and add in dark until I get the color I want.

RV42 and R22 for his cheeks.

Sorry to whine, but I just have to say I can't believe how fast the weekend went! I didn't get done nearly everything I wanted to! The list keeps growing and growing!

Fashion, Tilda Style

Hi!
This is for the SCS Inspiration challenge today. I love the rich, green dress in the center picture that Stef showed us.

I used a card base of So Saffron, the dp is from Graphic 45s botanical collection. The nestabilities are So Saffron and Vintage Cream. the Cream layer is sponged with so Saffron while still in the die to give a nice border. The gorgeous satin ribbon is from Papertrey. It's Ripe Avocado.
I colored Tilda with my copics.
I think this is going to be a birthday card for a friend this week.
Here are the colors I used:
Hair:Y21, E31, E35, then a little brighter yellow to brighten her hair.
Greens: Yg93, YG95 then I blended with the lighter YG91. BG96 was added in the darkest areas. I also added stickles to her wings.

Simply Santa

I just love this Santa from Whipper Snapper! He was so fun to color! I decided on a simple card a la (one of my heroes, Anna Wight!) I think this stamps stands on its own.

BUT, I will probably fancy up the inside with some Basic Grey dp!

The glitter is those glass shards that Anna has made snowflakes from lately. Really neat and sparkly!

It looks like I'll be spending the weekend stamping! We could get up to another 2 feet of snow by tomorrow evening!

I think I'll post some pictures tomorrow! It is really beautiful (when you don't have to drive in it!)!

I have been reading that so many of you don't feel you are very good with your Copic markers. I felt that way at first, too.

As I think of any tips I will pass them a long to readers (not that I'm an expert, by any means!)

Suzanne Dean did an excellent tutorial on coloring at the Magnolia store site. Check earlier posts here for links. That said, I always start with a lighter color than I want to achieve. On this Santa, I started with orange, believe it or not! I color all but the center areas with that color. The very middle is white at first. Then I use my mid color, but I don't cover all the orange, just nearer the edges. Then I use the color I really want the piece to be at the edges. I go back and blend with the blender or with a lighter color, in this case a yellow to mix my colors. Finally, I added a very dark red at the most shadowed parts.

If you bothered to read all that, you're a keeper! Thanks! Basically, I start with a lighter color and figure I can always make it darker, but it is difficult to make an area lighter once it is colored dark.

Holiday Penguin for color challenge

Once again, my card looks better in real life!

I loved doing the CC this morning! This card just came together so quickly!

I used this great Whipper Snapper stamp, Holiday Penguin. the snowflake bg is from Peddlar's Pack.

I used my new nestabilities for the first time! Love them! I found the cross piece already stamped with an old SU! background in my scrap box!

That's it except for copic colors and here they are:

Lots of greys-C-1, C-3, C-5, C-7

Reds: R05, R46, r59. Beak and feet: Y08, Y17 and YR04. cheeks: R81 followed by Ro5. greens:Yg25, G07.

You can bet that the first thing I will do when I get home tonight is get sparkle added to his fuzz ball and hat brim! No doubt about it!

Stylish Tilda revisited

Good Monday morning! We got at least 10" of snow last night! I'm not even going to try cleaning off my car! I'm walking to school today! One of the joys of living close to work (and saving on gas!

This card was made when I colored a couple of Stylish Tilda in the same way. This card is 5" square and uses many of the same papers. My flowers were all cream. I sponged some and also colored with copics to vintage them up a little bit.

If you look back through my blog (there are only 20 post total) you will find the colors used on her camel wool shorts and deep red sweater.

Featured Anniversary

Hi all! I made this card today for the Featured Stamper challenge on Splitcoast.

We were to case Kendra who has a terrific gallery of very classic cards. I chose one that had a layout I could use for this stamp. I need an Anniversary card for my niece and her husband.

I think it turned out okay. Colors were pulled from the beautiful My Mind's Eye holiday dp. The blue and green are Papertrey Ink's October colors. The stamp is from Stampendous and the sentiment really says "love to you" I colored just "love" in black marker to stamp it. The plaid background is from All that Scraps. Coloring was done with copic markers and the sky was sponged with soft sky and baja breeze.

Have your Elf a Merry Little Christmas!

Whoo Hooo! It's finally Saturday! Who cares if it's getting cooler and raining like crazy?! Not me, 'cuz I can stay home today!

I am completely in love with this little Tilda Elf! I wish I could get a better picture to show you how cute she is! This one will have to suffice! Trust me, ADORABLE!

She is Tilda with Yule cap and big ornament (two separate stamps). Sentiment is from SU! Tiny Talk.

The card base is Papertrey Ink white, then a layer of Cranberry Crisp (sponged with burgundy). The green layer is Basic grey dp fro my Wassail pad. I sponged the edges with Artichoke and distress Walnut. Then I put on the squiggly faux stitching. (I love when I see the real stitching on a card, but I'm not into that, YET!) I stamped the ornament on the green dp to get the hook. I also stamped in on dp fro the Wassail pad and cut it out. I shaded the ornament edges with a copic marker. I also stamped the ornament top onto shimmer white cardstock and colored with a spica silver pen. Glued all that onto the green dp. The burgundy bow was to hid a mistake, but I think it works! I colored Tilda with copic markers (colors below). The sentiment is cut with the small nestability circle and sponged with burgundy. The snowflake behind is a new trick! I used a Martha Stewart snowflake punch to punch out a snowflake (duh!) from Scor-sheet (also available at the store above), carefully peeled off one side and put it on my paper. Then I covered it with fine glitter. It didn't show up enough so I laid the back piece over it (as a mask) and sponged artichoke around it. Then attached my sentiment.

Guess that's it except for the colors and here they are; E00, E02 and R20 for the face and hands. Tassel:Y21 and Y08. Hair: E31, E33, E35. Reds: R27, R29, R46 and R59. Greens and for shading on ornament: Yg91, Yg93, Yg95 and Bg96.

Merry Tilda!

Good morning! I'm sorry I can't post everyday! I try, but work gets in my way! Hope you understand. Most cards have been worked on for a couple of evenings before they come together. My most creative time is in the morning and that's when I have to get ready for school. Do you have a time of day when you feel more creative?
Anyway, here is Tilda with her wreath ready to decorate for Christmas! I love that pink, blue and green can be Christmas colors! I wanted to use some of the new My Mind's Eye Christmas paper so that's how I started, but it just didn't work for this. I'll hoard it a little longer, something will come to me!
My card base is Papertrey Ink's cream color. I score just the front to make the main panel 4.25 " square. The layers are Baja Breeze and Pink Pirohette. The layer behind Tilda is dp from a Basic Grey pad. The dotted layer is a scrap from Bo Bunny's dotted line. Ribbon is from Papertrey. Of course, I added lots of stickles! I love to make this type of "hinge" card, because it gives you a nice square area to work with and that great side piece. I don't think I've ever made one with the hinge at the top, and I like it!
As I finished this card I wondered how it would look if it were more distressed with a tan ink to make it look vintage. I hope I get time to try it soon!

Another Leti it Snow Card!

I had no intention of making this card today, but that's why it's so great to play the SCS challenges! The color challenge today (Basic Grey, Pacific Point and Certainly Celery) brought this card to life.
I really don't like Pacific Point at all! (Sorry to those who d0!) That's another reason to play this challenge, I bought a package, why not TRY to use some of it! And , it really does look like this outside our Wester New York windows today! Beautiful!

I did add a few branches to the tree with my black pen because it looked a little small. I had to redraw the bird because it fell right on my mask for the window!

The card base is Basic Grey, then a layer of Pacific point, sponged with Not Quite Navy, the dp from SU last year. I don't think it's really Celery, but I couldn't find my Celery dp! The stash has taken over my craft room! The window and Tilda are stamped in Memento Tuxedo black on Papertrey Select white cardstock and colored with copic markers. I must confess that I colored the Tilda a while ago when I made another card with her so I am uncertain of the colors. for the window I used E31, E33, the shades of grey until it "matched" my grey paper. N-1, then C3 and C5. I colored the tree with one of the dark brown.. My snowflakes are stamped in Baja Breeze ink. then I used Liquid Applique and stickles (stardust) for my snow and flakes. The hodge podge is from SU (love that stuff) and the ribbon is Papertrey's Moss green.

FS92 Flowers for a Friend

Hi! This is the card I made for the Featured stmaper on SCS-Wendy Bell. Her gallery is terrific!

My card base is white, then a layer of kiwi kiss, then Basic Grey, Eva collection. I used Pink Pirohette for the mat, scalloped piece and tag punch.

I picked up this flower stamp on vacation this summer. It's from Outlines Rubber stamps. I colored the flowers with copic markers R20, R85, V12 and V06 and cut them out. The darker shades are covered by pearls now. The leaves are Martha Stewart oak leaf punch. The sentiment is from Circle of Friendship (Su!)

Regarding my card on Friday. Here are the colors I used to color Tilda with Daleclaria coat. BG10, BG72, R46, R59, T21, E35, E31, E33, E35, E37, and YG95. thanks for your patience!

Let it Snow?

I don't really want it to snow at all but I was so excited when this card came together so quickly thin morning!

Happy Friday! Jeanne Strieff (a goddess IMO!) has a great limited supply challenge today! Use a rectange and a circle in your card. The only embelishment is supposed to be ribbon. I cheated a little ( I realized afterward) and used stickles, but how can you do a snow card without stickles?! Can't!

She is the Tilda with Daleclaria coat. I used a card base of Baja Breeze, then chocolate, and then the awesome Ski Slope paper from SU! Tilda is stamped on Papertrey white. After I colored her I cut her out and glued her to the snowflake background (also a Magnolia stamp).

The sentiment is from the SU! set Tiny Talk. I used nestabilities and the slot punch from SU to make my tag. the ribbon is retired soft sky. I love the new ribbons, but they are too wide for some purposes.

Tilda in Red and Gold

Hi all! I wish I could take a decent photo so you could see the rich colors of this card!

I colored her the other night to match the beautiful Cosmo Cricket paper from last year titled "Wonderland" The rustic colors are terrific! I wanted Tilda's shorts to look like camel colored wool and her sweater to be a rich red. I had to blend some browns on top of my red to deepen the red. Then I used my blender to remove color.

The card base is Barely Banana. The flannel plaid layer is Cranberry Crisp. The dark green/brown paper is from cosmo, then another layer of Banana. The piece behind Tilda is a journal panel from the Cosmo pad. All layers are sponged on the edges with darker colors.

I think this week's SCS sketch works pretty well for my girl. Look at Kerry's wonderful card in similar colors: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1117518 We must have been channeling each other!

Keeping it Simple

Here's what I wanted to say in this post. Sometimes I give a friend a couple of cards to send out, but they like them so much that they want to keep them! Awww, that's nice!

This simple set I made is a birthday gift for a friend. I made her 8 (!) cards like this. They are blank so she can use them as notecards, and they aren't really "one of a kind" cards that so she will feel fine about using them. AND they didn't ake me long to make.

A great background, some super patterned dp and colors to match, a border punch and some ribbon. Put your cards together all ways to please yourself and you're certain to please someone else!

I package mine in the excellent clear boxes from Papertrey. No wrapping necessary or you can tie a bow around and attach a gift tag. Homemeade in the same colors, of course!

Good morning!

Seems like whenever I need a Get Well card I don't have any made up ready to go. That's why I made this yesterday. With all the paper in my stash the possibilities for this quick card are endless!

The card base is Papertrey Inks white select. The dp layer is Cosmo Cricket. The wall (and, actually the sofa too) is from the Wanted Collection and the floor is the solid brown from the Wonderland collection. I added black lines and squiggles then some brown copic marker to make boards. I added that little strip of black to define the wall from the floor. As I said the sofa is paper by Cosmo Cricket, but if you click to see the large picture I think you can see how much it looks like fabric. So cool! I added shading to the image with a dark green copic marker then blended it a little with the blender. The doily is stamped separately, cut out and glued on. I cut a neat little nestabilities from my oval set to make his wall hanging. Added the ribbon for balance, but not sure I like it!

The is Edwin with bandages (poor little guy!) He is colored with my copic markers as follows:

Shirt: G99, YG99

Hair Y21, E31 and E33

Hi all! I made this simple card today because I am in need of a couple of pet Thank yous. Dave and I lost our beloved dalmatian, Maggie and our super, orange cat, Carrot recently.

These losses have been devastating to us, but we are recovering and moving on as anyone who loves pets must do. Our vets and their staff are very compassionate and sent us several cards and flowers. So we need a thank you for them. While we are not ready for another dog, we did get two kittens several weeks ago. A dear friend gave us loads of kittie toys, so I need a thank you for her.

The cat stamp is from InkyAntics and the notebook page is a Magnolia stamp. It's perfect for Tilda and Edwin to sit on but it worked great for my peeking cat, too! I stamped the cat, then masked it with a post-it note before stamping the notebook page. The sentiment is from one of SUs sets.
