Just Us Girls #286 Photo Inspiration Week!

Hello!  It's my week to host over at Just Us Girls! I found this fabulous (IMHO) kitchen photo on Pinterest!  I love all the wonderful details in the photo;  the colors, bunnies, flowers, jars-ALL of it!  I hope you find something that inspires you to create  a paper project!
I was inspired by the color yellow (I love yellow almost as much as aqua!) and the bunnies.  So here's my card!

I used Barely Banana (retired SU-a color they should bring back!!)  The (sizzix folder) embossed layer is sponged with Hello Honey (SU).  At this point I decided on a hinged card.  The card front (only) is scored at 1, 25". the embossed piece was cut to fit the 'hinge' and a 4" square fits the other side.  I rounded the corners of both my card base and the embossed panel.
I found the adorable stamp on ebay (Stampa Rosa).  It's stamped with Stazon onto water color paper and watercolored with reinkers from SU.  He bunny is mounted on Pool Party.  My ribbon is from PTI.  The 'hinge' panel gets taped to the back of the card.
I hope you'll join us at the Just Us Girls challenge this Easter week!  You have until Thursday, April 2 at 9:00 pm to link up your card or project.  Details are on our blog (linked above!).
thanks for visiting! Enjoy your Saturday!  (March 28 and we got about 4" of snow last night!!!)

Just Us Girls #284-TREND WEEK!

Hi friends!!  I am one girl who is happy that it is Saturday. Was a bit under the weather at the end of the week! I need some rest.  Good thing I had my card done early for Sue's terrific trend challenge-SPLATTERS!  Please check out our blog for lots of DT inspiration!
I am truly challenge when it comes to splattering! I think I need to watch a few more tutorials! So, not to  be defeated I went to the SU set Grunge (or something like that! :) I'm bad with names.
I KNEW I was going to use this new Whipper Snapper Designs stamp-Kitty Showers.
Stinkin' Adorable kitty!
Click to enlarge photo.  My kitty is stamped in Stazon black on watercolor paper and watercolored with reinkers from SU-pomegranate, pumpkin pie and going grey mostly.  They shoud def. bring back Purely Pomegranate at SU-no one has a 'pink' like it!
Close up of the kitty!  Click on photos to enlarge more. Singin' and Dancin in Rain!  (I love that movie and Gene Kelley in that dance scene is my all time favorite!)
My 'spattering' is also done on water color paper.  I inked up my stamp in lost lagoon alternated with pool party, spritzed it and stamped it on the paper overlapping. Once dry I heavily sponged the edges.  The ribbon is Canyon Clay from Papertrey Ink.
Have a great weekend. Even with Spring on the way make time to craft! It's good for the sole! And, won't you enter your splattered project with us this week! YOu have until Thursday, Mar. 19 at 9 pm ET AND you 'll be entered to be our GDT member in May!

Just for Fun-Spring is Coming!!

Hello friends!  After all the Santas, trees, snowflakes and snowmen I am so ready for cards that say SPRING is coming!  I think this is one! My friend, Luanne, had this image stamped for me when I went to her house to color over our February break from school.  She is the queen of watercolor, IMO, so I just used the colors that she did!

Ink colors are Old Olive, Ruby Red and Hello Honey with Pool Party and Baja Breeze added around the image.  I also sponged the edges in soft suede using an old sponge that had ink on it.  The darker circle is soft suede also sponged in soft suede.  The blue barn door paper is from Kaisercraft.  The stitched and piereced die cuts are from My Favorit Things, and the lace ribbon is from SU.

Here'a close up of this adorable Northwoods image! (I now own the stamp so I can make more!)  This could be my Easter card, I'm thinkin'! My dad collected ducks, so I'm thinking my family would love this one!
Have a great day! Cheryl

Just Us Girls #283 Word Week!

Hello and happy weekend!! As I write this the sun is finally shining and it has even reached 20 degrees! Can spring be far away??  Ina has a great word for us at Just Us Girls this week-It's MASCULINE!!  Such a great choice as so many of us (me included) struggle with cards for our men! So, I expect to get lots of inspiration for future cards from our players this week!
Here's my sample:
I went to browns and greens for my Guy Card!  My card base is kraft, then a layer of Almost Artichoke and then some MME dp in the chosen colors with a bit of contrast with the aqua.  Finally a tree from SUs Lovely As a Tree-an all around great, great set for manly cards!  Mine is stamped with Memento dark brown in on Vintage Cream cardstock.  I then used a paintbrush and reinker in old olive and close to cocoa to add a bit more color to my tree and grass.
Cutting with My Favorite Things pierced squares gives the pieces a real finished look used along with some sponged on antique linen distress ink.  The banner die and sentiment are from PTI.
It bears mentioning again that one of the reasons I love our Just Us Girls challenge is that you can use materials from absolutely ANY company on our challenges!
Thanks for visiting and please conside playing along with the challenge this week. You have until Thurs. Mar. 12 ant 9 pm ET to enter yours with the Linky Tools on our BLOG.
