Tote bag goodness!

Hello!! I have a tote bag I made to contain a friend's birthday gift to show you today!  I'm not really ready for school (or for working everyday again!), but I do love fall colors in all shades!  This tote is a good size! It goes about 6 inches square and the pattern is available for a mere 5.00 from the, oh so talented, Lauran Meader.  Linked HERE  I just leave the top open.

I started by printing the template on kraft cardstock. and assembled according to Lauren's directions, using my Scor-pal, of course!!. The box is held together with Scor-tape-Such wonderful stuff!!Then I measured and cut panels from Summer Starfruit cardstock (I told you I was determined to like this color!) and embossed witha Darice plaid folder.  I ran my sponge (with Summer Starfruit ink) over the raised parts to define the plaid more fully.   Those are adhered with Scor-tape too!
Here's the back! I love that Lauren included (in her template) a pocket for the back!  It hold my Magnolia tag (cut from Peach Parfait) very nicely!
The leaves are from the stamp set, Leaf Prints, at Papertrey Ink.  I die cut them and then stamped the leaves on Harvest Gold cardstock in Summer sunrise, Pumpkin pie, and Cherry Cobbler.  The veins are stamped in black.  Of course, Nichole offers the dies, too, so I didn't have to cut them all out!  :)
finally, here's what the tote looked like with a little yellow tissue containing the b-day gift!  Cindy really liked it, I think!  Hope you do, too!
I still have BLOG CANDY to mail out to someone who leaves a comment on the Magnolia post below.  I'll choose my winner on Friday morning!
Thanks for coming by!  I'm off to school today to continue organizing!
Have a great day! Cheryl

AUGUST MAGNOLIA DT BLOG HOP!!

Hello!  Wow, it's already that time of the month and year!  For August, the Magnolia-licious DT is bringing you projects featuring cards or projects that could contain gifts for students and teachers!! In less than two weeks I will be back at work again! Actually, I've worked some already on curriculum and this week I hope to get my room all ready for the kiddos! It's an exciting time, but somewhat bittersweet to see summer's end in sight!

But, for now, I'm so happy you've come here from Chris Christenson's blog!  She is such a super person and paper crafter and we are delighted that she has joined us on this hop as our guest designer!
I created a box like a did a little while ago for our Christmas in July post!  Such a fun little box to make with four sides to decorate! Here's the LINK to my previous post and the LINK to  the directions by Tracy, too!

I used the following stamps from the Autumn TURNING LEAVES COLLECTION which are available at Magnolia-licious!  283 Tilda with a gift for you, 3067 Tilda with Pencils, 244 Editor Tilda, and 441 Autumn Sunflowers.  Please visit the store for the best prices and service on your stamping needs, including Magnolia stamps and minis, Scor-tape and many of the most popular dies that are on the market now from Magnolia, Memory box, Marianne, and Cheery Lynn!!
Here are the other sides of my little box which could contain a gift for the special teacher!  In my case it is for an August birthday girl who loves the color teal!
Thanks so much for coming by! If you have ANY questions about my box, please write them in comments and I will get back to you!! I also have some BLOG CANDY to give away to one lucky commenter!  A recent Magnolia stamp, some paper and a couple of other things to box up and send anywhere in the world!  I'll choose someone on Friday, August 24 in the morning, so please leave a comment before then!
Now, on you go, hopping to Sharon's blog, GRAMMA'S HOUSE OF CARDS!  You can always count on Sharon for something lovely and well crafted!!
Thanks for visiting!! We also hope you'll join us in the challenge and you can find all the details to do so on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog!
Have a marvelous Monday!

Just JACK!

Hello!  It's no secret that I looooove Whipper Snapper designs!  This guy (JACK) is from the Fall 2012 release and I think he is SUPER!! I've rarely 'met' a scarecrow stamp that I didn't love and have to have, but this one is at the top of my favs, even though he doesn't seem to be very successful at scaring crows!! LOL!

Not much to say about the card. He's colored with copics, no surprise there!  I sguiggle stitched around the edge because all that white space needed a border.  For a change, I took my dp to the edges of my card base rather than leave the card  base showing.  Papers are Authentique and Graphic 45. Web punch is Martha Stewart.  I had it put together and the lower left needed something so I created a sunflower for Jack's garden with a Memory box die, flower punch and button center.  I hope you can see that I added stardust stickles here and there on Jack

A close up of Jack!
Thanks for coming by!!
(Magnolia-licious DT Blog Hop on Monday, Aug 20!! You won't want to miss it!!)
Have a wonderful day and weekend!

Humble flowers

Hello dearies!  I must humbly ask for your forgiveness as I did not mean to be absent so long!  With vacations over I was just getting back to some normal crafting and our neighbors lost their business (auto repair) in a horrible fire last Friday, Aug 11.  He had gone in the house when an errant spark set it ablaze at about 8:00 am.  When explosions followed I tried to run further away and fell like a ton of bricks.  Needed help to get up and besides my pride, I hurt my leg pretty badly.  I'm trying hard to feel better and am still considering seeing a doctor, though I don't think anything is broken. The pain is getting in the way of much of what I want to do!
'nuff said on that!
Our neighbor has been dealing with insurance adjusters since, but is looking to the future now! We certainly wish them well and are so grateful for our quick acting volunteer fire department!

Anyway.... Here is a card I recently made using Autumn Abundance from Papertrey Ink. I colored up several of this image at once so I can put a few cards together quite quickly. I'm ALWAYS late with my cards, it seems!
The card base is kraft, with a layer of Summer Starfruit.  The dp is from Crate Paper's 6x6 pad called Farmhouse. The die is from Maryanne D and cut in Pool Party.

I hope your August has been great so far! Have a wonderful day!!

I Brake for Stamps!!

Hi there!  I Brake for Challenges has an August challenge going on and we'd love to see what you create!  Use any I Brake for Stamps image and ANYTHING goes!!
When I printed the SALAMANDER image from IBFS I could just see him climbing up a wall for some reason! And, why not a brick wall (Tim Holtz embossing folder), with a window (Memory box die).  It turned out just as I pictured and is just kind of a fun and funky card!
If you order from IBFS, you can use my code for 10% off your whole order!  The code is SAVE10CHERYL.
Thanks for visiting today!! Hugs, Cheryl

Tote Bag with Tilda!

Hi dear friends!! The Magnolia-licious DT has a new challenge with the new month!!  I'm so glad you came by and maybe you will consider joining in this August challenge! I sure hope so!  All the details are on the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog.  It's worth the trip over to the blog-you have just GOT to see what the team has created!! OH, MY!!
My main image is this beautiful Tilda from the newest collection, called Turning Leaves.  This is number 325 and is LINKED RIGHT HERE. Diana has the best selection around of Magnolia stamps, deeply discounted, club discounts for new collections AND store credit on every purchase! Add that to attentive customer service!
My tote is a template from My Time Made Easy and is called Tote-All.  For me, and for most teachers, Autumn is about carrying totes to and from school with all the work we have to do!! So many of us have collections of Tote bags!! This one is a wonderful size for a special gift or gift certificate!

 Tilda in a close up!
 The bag~
Now the template comes with a pattern for a back pocket to put on it! Be still my heart~this was so fun~ The pocket is perfect for inserting a tag with your gift!
And for the tag I used #309 (mini form!) called TILDA WITH DAISIES AND MUSHROOMS. Of course, I had to color her to match!  (Picture deleted here because I'm a fumble fingers at the keyboard!)

 The tag inserted!
Here's a pic of the tag (that did not get deleted!)   If you've read this far and are wondering why this bag fits Diana's challenge called Autumn Splendor, I'll tell ya. Part of Western NY is called the Grape Belt!  There are vineyards everywhere and we all pray that the farmers have an acceptable crop with this terrible lack of rain.  (It's been a bit better here this week-about 3 inches fell!) Since Grape jelly is my favorite I think I met the challenge!
Sorry to have rambled so long!  If you're at all interested at this point (LOL!) I used BV01, 02, 13, 04 and 17 to created Tilda's purple clothes!
Thanks for coming by and please remember to check out the team's inspirational creations on the blog linked at the top of the post!
Have a wonderful Thursday!
Cheryl
