Challenge #256! Join in!

Hello! I'm getting pretty nervous about the start of school so I use my crafting time as escape from those feelings. It calms me!! This week Just Us Girls Marisa has a great challenge for us!  It's the 5th Saturday of August so Marisa has offered the Wild Card challenge-ANYTHING BUT A STANDARD A2 CARD!  Could be a tag or gift package, an odd sized card or (what I've made) a shape card!  Endless possibilities!
You can see what the craftly girls on the team did HERE

I used Spellbinders dies to creat my flower background.  I didn't really know where I was going with the flower until I noticed the MFT set- Witch Way is the Candy? just waiting to be used. I really used it-4 of the images AND the dies!  The fence die cut you see behind is from Impression Obsession.  My images are stamped on water color paper and water colored with reinkers from Stampin Up. The flower center is raised with dimensional foam tape and the images are glued to that.
I added a little sparkle to the pumpkin, witch's cape and hat and the bat with a shiny gel pen.  Just a fun card to make and I sure to love my fall and Halloween stamps and colors!  Remember to check out the DT blog for inspiration and then come back to link up what you've created! You have until Thursday, Sept. 4 at 9 pm to enter.
All August Chics of the Week have a chance to become out guest designer in October!
Thanks for coming by today! Have a great day!

JUGS #255-Photo Challenge!

Hello!  Aren't these summer weeks just flying by?  I've been trying to cram in lots of fun and memories before going back to work! Having fun is exhausting!!  Also trying to make time to create, so I will have some other things I want to show you when I can make time to do the posts! In the meantime, Lisa has a great Inspiration Photo for us today!  You can see it HERE!
I wanted to include sunflowers on my card so I went to my Sunflower Girl set from My Favorite Things.  I just love their stamps and dies! Now, in addition to a big Papertrey Ink order every month I also have a big MFT order!  This obsession!! Oh my!

I die cut my images from water color paper and then stamped them in black (waterproof) ink and watercolored them with my reinkers. My background is Almost Amethyst (retired SU-Bring it back!!). I used my MFT cloud stencil to sponge the clouds in Fresh Snow ink (PTI).  The edges are sponged with Winter Wisteria ink.

The grass is punched with a Martha Stewart punch from Bo bunny Dot paper. then the whole thing was assembled on peach card stock and a kraft card base. the flowers and sun are on think dimensionals and my little girl is on thicker dimensionals so she stands out a bit more. I think I can add a sentiment on top of the card, but I'll wait until I decide who this one is for.
Thanks for visiting and please consider joining us in the challenge this week at Just Us Girls! You have until Thursday night at 9 pm to participate. We'd love to see what Farm Fresh ideas you have!  Chics of the week have a chance of being chosen as a future guest designer!

JUGS #254-Color Challenge!

Hello!!  This week Just Us Girls has a color challenge for you, brought to you by our own Sue V.  She picked some great colors to work with-green, blue and any neutrals!  You can see loads of inspiration to get you started HERE on our Blog!  Check it out! You won't be sorry!
 An extreme close up!

Now, for my card.  I went to my friend Luanne's house this week and she had some of this apple basket stamped on watercolor paper.  Luanne is the best I know at watercoloring with ink pads, so as she colored hers, I copied her!! She decided on green apples with the blue checkerboard cloth. We each colored four and when I see her this Monday she wants to see what I created with them.  Imagine how excited I was when I checked on the JUGS challenge and saw the colors!  Happy, happy!
I used soft suede behind my little four square quilt, then Lucky Limeade. That piece was run through the SU embossing folder to make a puffy quilt. The plaid paper is Enchanted Evening from Papertrey INk (as is the solid blue). the card base is Kraft.
I made it into a hinge type card. You cut a piece of cs 4.25x11" and score at 5.5".  then open and score the inside at 1.25".  That side piece becomes a fun, little design area of its own and you tape that piece on the insede to the back of the card-Voila! The "hinge". I hope that makes sense!

A close up of my quilt squares.

You have until Thursday, August 21 at 9 pm ET to enter your card/project for this color challenge.  We certainly would love to see what you've done with these colors!
In the mean time, thanks so much for coming by!

Life is a Picnic-JUGS challenge, too!

Hello!  Wow! I didn't realize it has been so long since I have posted! I am so sorry about that.  Sometimes real life takes over and squeezed crafting time out, doesn't it!?  This is my card for this week's Just Us Girls challenge #253-It's TREND week and our trend is -WASHI!
Check out the blog (linked above!) for some super duper inspiration cards!
I've used My Favorite Things Life is a Picnic set for my card.  I stamped the plaid gingham background from Impression Obsession in Buckaroo Blue on Marina Mist card stock. Then I stamped More mustard on the new (SU) Honey colored cardstock. I cute both of these pieces with MFT dies so the edges have a piered and stitched look. I love, love those dies! the edges are also sponged in the ink color.
the little girl is colored with copic markers AFTER cutting her out with the matching die and stamping her in Memento Tuxedo black ink.  The 'gold' tag is raised on dimensionals.  I went to put this all together, but had to incorporate Washi tape. I didn't like the way the yellow tape looked on the blue card stock so I taped it to some rustic white card stock and attached to two stripes.
The tag is tied with some twine at the top, as you can see.
I also 'entered' this card in the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast stampers for yesterday.  Katie's inspiration gave me the general layout for my card. It's a super fun challenge to particpate in 'cuz  you have an excuse to 'copy' someone else's card! It helps me get unstuck creatively!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Please joing the JUGS team this week in the challenge! You have until Thursday evening at 9:00 pm to enter your card!

Just us Girls 252-Word Week!

Hello all and thanks for coming by!  Nancy has the challenge this week at Just Us Girls and she has given us the word RIBBON to work with!  Easy Peasy-I love that! However, we just returned from a week in Maine and New Hampshire (I had to take a pass on last week's challenge) and now this weekend is busy too, soooo I'm showing a favorite card of mine from the past!  Please check out our blog at JUST US GIRLS tons of inspiration!

I used Tilda the Skier as my focal image, but I don't remember which collection she is from.  She is colored in copics. I used some My Mind's Eye 'wood' paper as the background like a rustic ski lodge.
And the snowflakes are from punched out. I added glossy accents and then glitter glass to them.  They have to dry awhile before you can put them on, but they sparkle so nicely!
My pink ribbon is from Papertrey Ink.
I've gotta run, but, again thank you for visiting!!
See you soon, I hope and please join us in Nancy's challenge this week. You have until Thursday, August 7 (my birthday!!) at 9:00 pm to enter your card!
