Curious Easter Bunny!

Hello!  Here's a card I made today for the featured stamper over at Splitcoast Stampers. I cased a snowman Christmas card and made the first of my Easter cards.  I just love working with bunnies, chicks and the colors of spring!!

I used a favorite old bunny from Whippper Snapper Designs called Curious Bunny.  I stamped him in Versifine Onyx black onto watercolor paper and colored him with a brush and reinkers. I used crumb cake for his body and a combination of blushing bride and crisp canteloupe for the pink bits.  The grass is painted with Pistachio Pudding .  Behind him are two die cuts-Impression Obsession grass.  It's nice tall grass at about 2.5" tall. The grass pieces are shaded with pistachio.  I used an MFT banner (fishtail flags) for the tag and just cut it the length I wanted.
My card base is Pool party. On top of that is a layer of PTI's new color Tropical teal  The top layer is PTI's rustic cream.  Those layers are sewn together with pink thread.  I wish the thread showed up more. I should have 'scribble stitched' around it a second time. Oh well, I'm pretty happy with the end results.
Thank you for visiting!!

JUGS #229-Inspiration Photo

Hello there!! Happy to have a Saturday in which the temperature is not below zero! And hoping your weekend has started well!  Lisa has a great inspiration photo for us this week.  Please check it out on our BLOG- JUST US GIRLS.

I bought the Stampin' Up! set Life in the Forest just to have this fox.  He's adorable.  Then I had this card in my mind all week and was finally able to finish it this morning.  When I got everything pasted together it looked like a quilt block to me so I embossed it with my SU! folder.  Love this look on cards!
I hope you can see that I got my inspiration from the wooden spools (SU wooden boards bg), the fox and the tree in Lisa's photo.  My clouds are from PTI and the grass is a Martha Stewart punch.  The tree is a die from Memory Box and is cut from white and colored with copics. And, can you see, I got my sewing machine out and stitched the edge! So much inspiration from the photo!
I think I'll add inside something like this;  "The fox says Happy Birthday" because this card makes me think of that catchy little song " What does the fox say?"  Can't get it out of my head!!
Thanks for visiting and please visit our blog for tons of inspiration!  It's right HERE!

Have a great weekend! Cheryl

JUGS challenge and a cat pic!

Hi friends!  I haven't felt well for about a week now, but am finally on the mend. Nothing serious, just a nasty head cold!  Kept me down, though! But, I'm back!  We have a color challenge going on at Just Us Girls!  It sort of involves the colors of the rainbow, but you only need use three. I chose pink, yellow green, and aqua for my card.
First, here is Violet!  She is our very agile girl cat.  I love the lit space above my kitchen cabinets. I use it to display pottery and mason jars I've collected.  But, it seems, Vi likes it too!  She can jump from the counter to the top of the fridge and right up over the molding!  Charlie is such a chunk he isn't able to follow her here! Just thought I'd show you!

And, my card!  I used a 5.oo PTI set from the Polka Dot Parade releases.  This one has candles and a few sentiment.  I put two of the candles on a block and stamped in Coastal Cabana, Summer Starfruit and PTI's Hibiscus Burst.  then I added the flame in Summer Sun. Stardust Stickles were added to the stripes and flames.  The green layer is Simply Chartreuse (PTI), and the aqua is Coastal Cabana (SU).  The plaid dp is Rasberry Fizz as is the card base (PTI).  The inverted tag is from Taylored Expressions (Stacklets).  I added a little divine twine for interest.

You have until Thursday, Feb. 20 at 9:00 ET to enter in our color challenge and we'd sure love to see what you come up with!  Here's the LINK again!
Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back soon-no school this week!!

JUGS 227- Technique challenge!

Hi!  Does Blogger make anyone else crazy!! I'm typing this post for the second time.  I had to delete the first because it wouldn't schedule and then it posted! ARgghh!  Had to hit delete!  Anyway,  Sue has a great challenge for us this week! there's a great video from Becca HERE  And the JUGS blog is HERE!
The challenge is inked die cut edges.  My first problem was that I don't have any of the recommended inks!  But I didn't let that stop me! I used  my new SU Coastat Cabana to see what would happen.  It worked!  I did touch up the edges a bit with a copic marker, I admit, but mostly it worked.
My tag die is from Taylored Expressions.  The felt is from PTI, but I wish I had a Cherry Cobbler red.  I have to do some searching for that. I used my MFT rose dies for the flowers (pearls in the center) and a PTI leaf die.  The die that is edged is from Spellbinders.  the woodgrained kraft tag is made with SU's embossing folder. I've tied my tag to a brown gift bag with lots of rustic twine in aqua and brown.  IMHO this is prettier in real life.  My camera does not photograph red very well.  Sorry 'bout that!
Well, once again we hope you'll join us in the challenge and try this!  You have until Thursday, Feb 12 at 9:00 pm ET to enter yours.  Our Chics of the Week have a chance to be our guest designer in an upcoming month!
Have a great day!~ Cheryl

Cabin in the Woods

Hello all!  Well, it's mid-week and snowing again here in Western New York!  I don't expect they will cancel school, though, because we have used all our days when it was sooooo cold a couple of weeks ago.  we may get 10 inches today, but if the plows are out we can handle that!

Here's a card a made recently from a stamp I've had awhile. ;)  It's simply called CABIN and it's from Impression Obsession. I stamped it on Xpress it blending card and added some glitter glass for sparkly snow. a quick and simple mount on blue and then Hawaiian shore from PTI.  The Hawaiin Shore layer is stamped in Taken with Teal with my favorite plaid background.  I thought it was from Impression Obsession too, but can't find it in their store.
Guess that's it~quick post today!
Thanks for coming by!

JUGS challenge #226 It's a SKETCH!

Hello and welcome to another great challenge from Just Us Girls.  This week we have our monthly Sketch challenge.  You can find it HERE. While you're checking out the sketch scroll down to check out the DT inspiration we have for you.  Inspiration includes a wonderful sample from our new Guest Designer Melissa Hubert!  Welcome!
I used my most favorite pool party for a card base.  I have a piece of SUs Coordination paper (in pool party) on top of that.  That piece has been run through my heart embossing folder and then sanded a bit to expose more white.  I cut Spellbinder die hearts from white and then from pink glitter paper that I got at JoAnn's, Michael's or AC Moore.  Finally I have a circle die cut with this cute, cute snowman.  He is from Peachy Keen stamps.  They have the best snowman faces.  Mine is stamped on xpress it blending card and colored with copics.  I used the LOVE die from Papertrey Ink for my sentiment and a knot of white twill ribbon.
We hope you'll join us in this week's challenge!  All chics of the week for the month have a chance to be our guest designer for a future month!  Come on, show us what you got!
Have a good day and weekend!
