Just Us Girls #282 Photo challenge

Hi!  We are doing our best to hold up through the cold, but it's fun to create with beautiful green!  We sure won't see green grass for awhile!  Anyway, Vicki has a great challenge for us this week! See this phot below for inspiration!  So many possibilities! And more inspiration on our blog:

As I said, I wanted to use the green from Vicki's pic, so I did!  I went with a general St Patty's Day themed card, but used the dots and the gold in the photo as inspiration for my image and card.

This is Whipper Snapper Designs O'Leary. I colored him with copics.  My beary is made furry by putting some colorless blender on a 'loopy' washcloth and dabbing it on the colored image. It lifts the color out and leaves the fuzzy look! Love that technique! Try it!
My card base is Leaf Green (PTI) stamped in Damask BG from MFT.  The limelight banners (MFT) are cut with an MFT die and stamped with Impression Obsession's gingham background as well as a dotted BG from MFT.  The rounded focal image is an MFT die.  I used a gold strip beneath my ribbon to represent the gold of Vicki's photo.
We sure hope you'll join in this fun challenge this week and upload your card to our BLOG by Thrsday Mar. 4 @ 9 ET
I appreciate your visit!! Cheryl

Just for Fun Tag!

Hi!  Here's a tag I recently to send to Lisa at Whipper Snapper designs. I've used the WSD image, the aptly named Kitty and Balloon.  I love the size of this nice big image.  Instead of grey, like the sample in the store I colored it as an orange cat, like our Charlie!  the real life Charlie is a big boy!

Charlie and balloon are colored with my copics on Xpress it blending card. Then I cut the image with the beautiful stitched tags from My Favorite Things.  The outer tags are just cut slightly bigger with my paper cutter so I could stack them.  That cloud is from Papertrey Ink.  As you can see the balloon is covered with Stardust Stickles...so pretty!
I used an MS edge punch on the bottom of the green layer.  the tag is tied at the top in my favortie way.  Put the wider ribbon through and then tie the 4 layers together with some twine.  to tie on a bag you could add more twine.
Thanks for visiting!  See you soon for another Just Us Girls challenge!

JUGS Color Challenge!

Hello! The Just Us Girls team has challenge #281 for you today and Lisa has chosen some terrific colors! And, here they are!  Very pretty and kind of springy, or even nautical, if you like! Please check OUR BLOG for tons of DT inspiration with these colors!

My card is 4.75" square so it will fit in a 5 inch envelope.  The card base is Crisp Canteloupe then there is a layer of cream.  I used this awesome quilt die from My Favorite Things for this easy to create card.

I was going to stamp all the papers, and then cut them, but I don't have background stamps that are a small pattern and that's what these litttle pieces called for.  So, I went to my stash pf Papertrey Ink dsp and had a match for all the colors Lisa chose!  Happy, happy!  I used Navy Blue for my quilt 'frame' and then cut it again from Melon berry, Linen and Enchanted Evening.  The solid is Soft sky (SU!). I used my cream color as a base and glued down the frame.  Then it was just fun to decide on the pattern by placing the little pieces of dp into the 'holes'.
I didn't want to cover the pretty pattern with a sentiment blog, so I decided vellum would be just the thing! It is stamped and white heat embossed and then cut with MFT's stitched banners stax.  A couple of glue dots behind the words so they can't be seen hold it in place.  Then a few peachy colored pearls and the card was done!  I can use the extra pieces to create more cards  with the same colors, but different quilt patterns.  Wouldn't this make a great gift set for someone!?  Hmmm....has me thnking of upcoming birthdays!
Well, that's it.  With this past week off school and very, very cold temps here in WNY I did get some extra cards made (and cleaned my studio, too!), so I should have a couple of posts this week!
Come back, won't you!?

Freshcut Floral bouquet

Hi!  I made this card on Sunday while I was fighting a cold and didn't have the energy to do much else!  I used a card from the Featured Stamper at Splitcoast as my inspiration.

I used a stamp set from Wplus9 called Freshcut Florals (and dies!) as well as Freshcut Containers (and dies!) to create my vase and bouquet. I used various inks for my bouquet. To name some SU Basic Grey, Pretty in Pink, Groovy Guava, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum. And from Papertrey Ink Simply Chartreuse, Summer sun, Orange Zest.  The very, very dark green is Versafine's Olympia Green.  I didn't use dimensionals, instead putting my flowers together with glue dots.  I thought that gave the bouquet enough dimension with the flowers stacked.  The white border is from MFT-Blueprints 14.
I hope to get something created today, but I must start with putting away all the inks I had out yesterday! Can't find my crafting table at the moment!
Have a great day and thanks for coming by!

JUGS #280 Trend Week!

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Ina, our lovely host at Just Us Girls for this week has an awesome trend challenge-BURLAP!  She's a genius! What a great challenge with so many natural fibers out there now!   I used a piece from a package I got at Michael's. In fact, my buddy, Lisa and I split the package of colored burlap.  You'll want to check Lisa's and all the other DT inspiration cards on our BLOG!

I used this poppy stamp from Stamping Bella. Same 'ole story-I've had it for quite some time, but it has never seen ink until today!  I stamped it in black Stazon and watercolored it with reinkers from Stampin' Up!  My main colors are Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio and Soft Sky.  I cut it out with a My Favorite things pierced circle die. The spellbinders diecut behind is actually kraft cardstock, but it's sponged with vintage photo distress ink. My card base is cream stamped in kraft ink with a retired background from SU.
That's about it! Here's another view taken in actual daylight because I had a snow day from school today due to the very cold weather and wind chill.
So pull out some burlap and go create-especially if you're in the northeast where it's cold and snowy and can't go out anyway!
You have until Thursday, Feb. 29 at 9 ET to enter your card or project!
Thanks for visiting!

Word Week at JUGS! (#279)

Hello, stamping friends!!  It's my turn to host the challenge at Just Us Girls and it's WORD WEEK! I know many of you have finished your valentines (not me!), but consider any card or project that shows love!  Your card can have the word love, but doesn't have to!  It can show love for stamping, love for a person, or love for a pet....  My card shows my love of COLORING and CATS!!  You'll want to check the amazing  DT inspiration (new GD Stephanie!!) on our BLOG, too!

I used Whipper Snapper Designs "Purrfect Birthday" for my main image.  Happily and LOVINGLY, I colored it with my copics!
I wish I'd jotted down colors because I sent this off to Lisa at Whipper Snapper Designs and I want to color another of this image!  I'll have to figure it out!

Just click on the pic to see it larger!  I also hope you can see the sparkle! I used dies from My Favorite Things to cut my rectangles.  While still it the die I used a stencil brush to add Coastal Cabana around the edges.  The dotted paper is from Papertrey Ink.
By joining in on our LOVE challenge this week you have a chance to be our April Guest Designer!  You have until Thursday, Feb. 12 at 9:00 pm to add your card to the BLOG with Mr. Linky.
Show us some LOVE!!
Have a great weekend! Cheryl
