You Make Me Smile!

Yep, you really do! Thanks for visiting me here!
I've made this card using the free Anniversary set from Papertrey Ink. I ordered enough last year that I got two of these sets so one is on its way to my friend Diane! With so many stamps it was very fun to work with, but it is pretty self explanatory so I guess I don't have much to say about it!
I hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend and thank you to all Veterans who gave so much of themselves in service to our country!
See you tomorrow!

A Great Pear and FINALLY a winner!

Hello and TGIF! I love when it is finally Friday! Things are a little hectic at school right now with so much to do and no one knowing what their job is next year! We had so many cuts in our 2 elementary schools so I am very grateful to have a job, and it's a good job, but.....

Anyway, that's not why you came! First, I will finally announce my winner from the wedding post (blog hop) a few posts down. Random.org chose comment #28, which is Tammy.

Congratulations, Tammy! Will you please contact me at drowly6@stny.rr.com and I will happily get your 3 magnolias out to you!

My card today is made with Papertrey Ink products. Next to my beloved Magnolias and Whipper Snappers comes PTI! I got 'a few' of the sets and dies from the release on May 15 and I had an anniversary card to make. This one was inspired by one that Dawn McVey made for the release. I used Apricot Appeal and Peach parfait for my oranges and PTI's burgundy color for what looks like purple.

If there's anything you're wondering about, please ask. I loved making this one!

Wishing you a great day, great weekend and a big American thank you to all those who made the supreme sacrifice for our great country as we remember them on Memorial Day.

Hugs, Cheryl

Gardening Tilda

I can't wait for the new Rainbow collection, but in the mean time here is Tilda in pink overalls. I think she is out checking on her flower gardens! I used #275 Mini TILDA IN LACE JEANS and #427 LAZY SUMMER FLOWERS for my circle card. I stamped the flowers twice on white xpress it blending card. I stamped Tilda on the same paper and cut her out after I'd colored her.

I see so many great dies from Marianne, but I don't have any! When I go to buy them they are always sold out! BUT, I do have this great die from My Favorite Things! I used it on the smallest grand large scalloped circle with a fold at the top. I don't have the grand large circle dies so I used the largest die from the regular set and traced the outside of it on my pink dotted paper (back side) and cut it out to get a bigger circle.

I used my copics to color the image, of course! Copics used are:

E0000, R30, E11 for skin

E50, Y21, E33 and E99-hair

YG01 and Yg23 grass

Bg10 around flowers

E33 and E99 shoes

RV10, 13 and 14 for her clothes. (Her top is RV10)

I kept the flowers small so they would fit and not take over the card, leaving flowers off so I didn't cover up the die cut too much!

Guess that's it!

Remember you can still enter our May sketch challenge or our wedding/ Scor-pal challenge over at the Mag Highlites Blog! We'd love to see your work! (Please check out the top two posts.)

Thanks for visiting today! I appreciate it so much!

Beach Bear

Hi stampin' friends! We finally had some great weather yesterday and I had to attack all the weeds in my flower beds! They were taking over! There was time at the end of the day for reading and a glass of wine on the deck! So today is for creating! I always check the featured stamper on Splitcoast on Sundays. I had partially colored this bear from I Brake for Stamps and had chosen my paper. The rest went very quickly because I decided to keep it simple! I LOVE this bear!! There are others by the artist too!! Here's the LINK: Rick St. Dennis Bears. You can get 10% off your order is you use my code SAVE10CHERYL!
And remember, Della carries Wild Orchid Flowers in the store!

Here is the close up of my bear and here are the colors I used:

E42, 34, 35 for the bear with R21 for cheeks, ears and tongue

Y04, 08, 17 and 38

RV 21, 23, 25, 29

BG11, 13 and 49

I know I should have added a sentiment, but I can't decide on one! Ideas?

I still need to choose my winner of 3 Magnolia images from the comments on the post below. Thanks for your patience!

Hope you're having a great day!

WEDDING MARCH errr, HOP!

Can't you just hear the music to the Wedding March!?! The design team has gotten together to show you wedding themed cards and projects which also feature Scor-Pal!
As it turned out we did not have to build an ark yesterday, but the rain made it possible for me to work inside on my project. I NEVER seem to be able to finish things early!

But, I am so glad you came by today! If you've joined me from the talented Maureen's Blog you are in the right aisle! If not, you could start over at the Mag Highlites Blog for the complete list. The start of the Blog Hop March is at Janiel's blog! She has a wonderful project to share!

It's so exciting for me to be able to make a wedding card and gift because we have a family wedding in THREE WEEKS! Our nephew is getting married to a wonderful girl! Jessica's girls are wearing eggplant so I started there with my colors. I love rich Sahara Sand with whites and creams so I used those for my neutrals. I don't really think Cale is wearing a brown tux, but it seemed a good color for my work.
I am always so inspired by Norma, so my project is a nod to her talent~from her I copied the flowers and the Step Easel type of card. So talented is our Norma! I know many of you have made these!
Of course, another wonder of our stamping world is Diana, Queen of Magnolia! These stamps are from her great store! Here's the link to the mini and regular sized BRIDAL COUPLE (158)
The regular sized LOVE CAKE is also in the store right now! Diana is expecting NEW stamps in any time now, too!

I tried to keep the coloring very simple and here are my colors:
E00, E00, R30 and E11
E50, E33, E37, E47 and E08 (Yes, Cale is a redhead!)
E42, E25, E33
RV91, (#, (%, RV66 and 69
The new E81 (Ivory) is all I used on the cake and her dress (with 0 blender) Great color!

I used the lace on the bottom to look like a lace table cloth (and I can enter in the Just Magnolia challenge! make it lacy!)

My Small Pizza box is directly from the Scor-Pal site and directions are EASY!! This could hold some pretty filler and cash or a gift card. It is 4" square.
I would be lost without by Scor-Pal and Scor-Buddy! They are never far from me when I'm papercrafting!

And couple more pictures!
Below-so you can see the sides of the box!

Now, you'll be Marching off to Angie's beautiful blog to see what she has been up to! I know you'll enjoy it!

If there's anything you're wondering about my project that I haven't explained, just let me know!

I think I've gone on long enough and you want to be on your way! If you'd care to leave a comment you can be entered for a chance to win 3 Magnolia images and maybe a couple of other things that I love!! Entries will close on Friday night, May 20!
Thank you!

Thanks so much!!!

Hugs, Cheryl

A Walk through the garden!

Hi! What was up with blogger this morning when I wanted to post!? Oh well, I put this card on SCS this morning and wanted to get a blog post done so here I am! I took a few shots to show you that she is a bit 3D. I stamped her twice and cut out her face/hair separately as well as the hand on the flower pot. I did not cut out a second flower pot. Instead I cut up the right edge of it and raised that portion with dimensional glue. The rest of Tilda I made 3D using dimensional dots. They are down the center of the cut our image, then I used a quick drying glue to glue down most of the edges. I glued the separate face on for more dimension.
My sketch is the Sweet Sunday Sketch for this week~I turned it. I wanted to make a flower but without time I settled for fussing a bit with the leaf die cut and one of my lovely Magnolia blossoms from Wild Orchid. The dp is My Mind's Eye, Lime Twist and I tried to match my copicss to the colors in it.
Here they are:
E000, E11, R30 for her skin
E50, E23, E37 and E29 for hair
E33, 37 and 29 for her boots
YG21, YG13 YG23 for her coat and grass. I added w2 to her coat so it wouldn't match too closely to the grass
Rv32 and 34 her dress
RV63 and 66 for her flowers and the tulip
The pathway is Toner greys (1, 3, 5 and 7)
Y23, YR12 and E08 for the flower pot.
And here is Tilda (#371 Tilda with flower pot) going for a walk in her garden! Maybe like me she has new flowers and has to find a place to put them! I'm a sucker for greenhouses and always bring home more than I have room for! Right now I have so much weeding to do that I've made a promise NOT to buy anything until I get it done! We'll see!
Tilda is on the Tulip Walkway (#404). Both are HERE ON THIS PAGE
and both are available in Mini too! (Just go to Mini world and then Butterfly Dream collection). And, before I go, another angle!

And, finally a wish that you have a good evening and weekend and thanks for coming by!

Hugs, Cheryl

Memories, Mom and Spring

Hello and Happy Mother's Day! We are finally having spring weather in Wester New York. And though my mom has been gone for 6 years I made this card with her in mind. She loved dogwood trees. Now while we are near lakes, I grew up in Cherry Creek which is in a valley. The spring changes (warm weather and flowering trees) can be two weeks later than they are near Lake Erie only 15 miles away. So while the dogwoods bloom near the lake, it is a little more difficult away from the lake where we lived. But there was one in our backyard by the hen house. My mom loved that tree! I don't remember if my dad gave it to her or one of my older brothers and sisters but it was always beautiful in the spring! While it was more of the pink variety I decide to stick with the white ones for my card. Do you know the legend of the dogwood?
It is said to be the tree that the cross was made from. After the Crucifixion the tree never grew big and strong again and the flowers represent the cross, the brownish color represents the blood from Jesus' hands and feet. Notice that the ends of the flower petals have a 'hole'. Here is a link to the legend better than I can say it. The Legend of the Dogwood tree.
I know that my mother was aware of this symbolism but I never asked if that's why she loved the dogwood so much.

.
This beautiful image is from I Brake for Stamps. Here is the link to the Dogwood Blossoms

Thanks for coming by today and for putting up with my rambling. I miss my mom so much. She was an amazing person.

I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Cheryl

King Tilda and May Sketch

Hello! It's last minute me again! I finished my card for the Magnolia-licious DT May sketch brought to us by Suzanne Dean. It's a great sketch! You will find so much inspiration on the Mag Highlites blog! Won't you join us in making a card with it? You have the rest of the month to get yours entered, so come on! Oops! I see I forgot to add the sentiment-I'll have to do that!) I hadn't inked up my #214 KING TILDA yet so that's what I picked to work with. The "You are So Special collection is the best! (Until the next one of course!) I see that this image is available in Mini form now and I will have to get an order in! Also, Diana has just announced that there is a new Rainbow Collection coming soon to her store! Oh, my! I will NEVER be able to retire! Here's the LINK to the leaf die from Magnolia-licious. The swirl die is also from the store, but I don't see it right now. Email Diana if you are interested! I used papers from Simple Stories to determine the colors to use on my image. It's got lots of muted, vintage colors so that's the look I went with. I took a lot of pictures so you can see the dimension on our girl! I stamped her twice. On one image I colored only her top and hands. On the other I colored the pants and socks and her face, hair and crown. I cut them out separately and glued them on with dimensional glue. I added glue to have her right leg stand out, too, but it wouldn't stick so I added a small dimensional piece under it and accomplished the same thing.

Gosh, she's cute!! Here are my colors:

E000, E00, R11 and R30

E42, 35, 25 for pants; BG000 and BG10 for her socks
E50, E35, E25, and E29 for her hair.

R27, R37, E42 and R59 for her top. E42 on all lace.

Well, that's it! Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Projects from our Springfest 2011

Hello! I want to show you two of the projects I swapped with other stampers at our 4th Annual Springfest last weekend! First up is my 3D swap. I made twelve of these little boxes-like a small crayon box. It's a free template over at My time Made Easy! The tag is from Papertrey and the stamp is from Whipper Snapper! If you have any questions about them, just ask!

Then, this is what I made (30 of them) for the tag/bookmark exchange which was new this year and what a fun swap.

I received some beautiful things from both m y swaps! Talented, talented ladies!

Thanks for stopping by! Should have my Magnolia-licious card done for tomorrow. Suzanne gave us a great sketch to work with and I can't wait to get my papers and image on it!

Have a great day! Cheryl

Happy Birthday, Foxy!

Good morning! What a weekend! It was so much fun to attend Stamp Fest 4 in Buffalo on Saturday! There was talking, laughing, stamping and food! What else could anyone want! Tracy Harp and her team did a wonderful job, yet again! Buuuut, I was soooo tired on Sunday that I did not get much done! I unpacked in between naps! Here is a link to Diane's blog~she has some event pics posted too! So, in trying to get back into it today I wanted to show you (my loyal followers!) a card I made for my friend, for Lisa Kind. She is so talented and always showcases the most wonderful cards and projects!

This is Rizzo from Whipper Snapper designs. Cute, huh? I cut my card base from the Big Scalloped Grand Nestabilities from Spellbinders. The paper layered on it is from an older My Mind's Eye collection.l The dotted is on one side and the striped on the other. I cut leaves from PTI's Turning a New Leaf and stamped with the matching stamp. Then I used my copics to shade the leaves a bit and used some BG000 and BG10 around them so it wasn't so 'white'. The felt flowers are also cut from PTI dies.

Here are the colors for the fox:

Y32, YR65, E97 and E99

Ci, C5 and C9 for his 'white parts'

G24, G20 and G82 for the grass

I have projects to show that I made for Saturday's event, my May Magnolia-licious card as well as one or two I Brake for Stamps cards so I should be back most everyday this week! Than ks for coming by my cottage!

Have a wonderful day!

Cheryl
