Pumpkin Treats

Hello! Well, Blogger is acting weird again-wouldn't let me type above my picture! So, I'll just type here!~
I've done some fall cards, but now want to work in earnest on Halloween cards! I just love making them, because I love color!
Here's my beautiful (and favorite) new background stamp. It's Impressions Obsession's Cover a Card gingham. I want to stamp it tone on tone in every color!! But, this time I used Cayenne on Pumpkin Pie again. The yellow piece was laying around from another project so I grabbed that for more color. Then I cut my Marianne die from black-makes it look like iron! Was going to use ribbon, but then pulled out my Halloween punches and pulled out the spider web ~ That's it!
The focal image is from High Hopes. Mine came from Stamp and Create. Blogger won't let me link right now, but I'll put the link in later! Sorry!
I used Yrs for my pumpkin-YR20, 21, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18. then I used some E35 on the left (shadow) side. The hat is Cs-the odds. I used Y18 on the star and moon then some YR14.
Guess that's it! It's a busy day-Dave's brother is coming for lunch then a friend's son's Eagle Scout ceremony! Not much more crafting time today, but I'm trying!
Have a great day yourself!!

Grateful!

I have a lot to be grateful for, but tonight I am not grateful for Blogger! this is the second time I've typed this post! Blogger wouldn't save, and, of course my great words all disappeared! Grrr!!!! I am on my way out the door this evening, too! Back to school for Open House! Long day for teachers!

Okay, on to the cardd! I loooove this IBFS image called Pumpkin and vine border. There is a challenge on the I Brake for Challenges blog starting today! You have two weeks to enter your card in the FALL theme with us! You don't have to use an IBFS image, but if you have any we'd love to see your creations with them!

This would be a great image and card for teaching a card class, me thinks!

I also used my Impression Obsession Gingham cover a card bg stamp in Cayenne on Pumpkin Pie and on Kraft with Expresso.

The pumpkin and vine are colored with copics, which I think you already knew!
I used YR20 and 21, YR12, 15, 18 and a little Y18 for more yellow.
I used YG93, 95,97 and a bit of YG99 for the leaves.
Well, I must be off, but before I go I want to say thank you so much for coming by today! I love when you visit and comments are just icing on the cake, 'cuz I know how busy everyone is!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Autumn Pumpkins!

Hello and welcome to hump day! Hope you're having a good week! Thanks for coming by to spend a minute or two!
Mabelle (Whimsy and Stars Studio) asked us to design a card with one of her fall images for a Designer Showcase.
Here's her blog where you can read about it! Whimsy and Stars Blog .
I post pretty early so if it's not there yet ( post date of Sept. 14) I hope you will check back.

I colored Blessed Harves from the shop with my copics. I used YR12, 14, 15 and 18 for my pumpkins-leaving out the yellow this time for a different look.
The greens are YG93, 95 and 97.
Browns are E42, 33, 37, 99,
Around the images I used W00, 2 and 5
I think this will be a Thanksgiving card that I send out!
With appreciation to YOU!

Whimsy and Stars Release day!

Hello and welcome! Today is release day for new digital images from Whimsy and Stars Studio. Here is the one I chose to use to show you today! This is Alex with pumpkin. I colored him with copics. My favorite part is how his 'jeans' came out. They have that worn in the knees look that little boys' jeans get! I used B21 and B95 for the jeans with the colorless blender. His shirt is YG21, YG93, 95 and a little 97. I can't remember the oranges for the pumpkins-I just kept grabbing them and then they got mixed up!
If you would like to see what's new please head over to the Whimsy and Stars Studio Etsy store.
Mabelle (owner and artist) also has a blog post showing work from her other designers, so I hope you will get a chance to visit THERE! And, if you search her out on Facebook, on occasion she gives FREE digi images!
In the meantime, thanks for coming here!
See you soon!
Back to school today for me! Have a great day!

Apples for Sale!

Hello friends! I've had to accept that it is fall and am enjoying working with my fav fall colors.! I bought this Impression Obsession stamp (Apples) about a year ago and hadn't inked it up. It was so fun to color once I got going! The artist does the important shading so it's not as difficult as it might look. I just love how he hides the cat in the image, too! I used a soft suede card base, then a layer of pumpkin pie and then a textured layer of not quite navy. the image has a white border and is mounted on black. (don't mind that I spelled my own name wrong on the watermark! I'm an awful typist!)

That great plaid ribbon is from Joann's, but I couldn't find it in my Joann's stores. My friend, the talented and generous Mary Giemza sent me some about a year ago. I've been hoarding it fer sure! Thanks, Mary!

My desk was covered with markers on this one! I hope you like it!

For the layout I CASed a card on Splitcoast Stampers. I loooove the Featured Stamper challenge every Sunday!

I'm alos entering in the current Impression Obsession challenge which is to make a birthday card. They are also promoting Operation Write Home this month! A very good cause!

Thanks for coming by today! If you're enjoying a day off today (and even if you're not) have a GREAT day!

A Halloween Hi!

Hi there!

I'm so happy to say that Mabelle, owner of Whimsy and Stars Studio has asked me to be a part of her Fall/winter design team! Thank you, Mabelle! She showcased cards from her upcoming (SEPT. 6) release of new digi images on the blog yesterday. The other designers are top notch artists and the cards are stunning!

I hope you'll head over there to see them!

Here's my card using Pumpkin Kitty (available on Sept. 6). Cute, huh? And so fun to color with my copics. I decided to showcase him in an oval and picked a shape card made from my Nestabilities labels to do that. I used Linda Duke's technique for dry embossing using Impressabilities while the shape is in the die (so you get the border). It is linked HERE, if you are interested.

There's a lot to come from Whimsy and Stars on Tuesday, Sept. 6! Stay tuned!

See you soon!

Thinking of You!!

Hello friends!! Thanks so much for visiting me here today! I have a simple little card for you today. It works for today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoast, but is also a result of my shopping trip with Lisa Kind yesterday! Such fun!! We were at the Hamburg Fairgrounds where every year at the end of August our local stores sponsor a Stamp and Scrap Art Tour show. There are 20 vendors with papercraft demonstrations, ideas, and things you didn't know you needed!! We found lots and did our share to support these wonderful businesses!! We got there at 10:00 am and closed the place at 5:00 pm!! If you're local and don't go, please join us next year, 'kay?
I got this stamp from Impression Obsession from the Buffalo Stamps and Stuff booth. I used to card on display (from the IO board) for coloring. I loooove the results!
My colors started soft and I kept adding until I got what I wanted
E41, E30, E31, E33, YR23 and C0, C1
I also added some C7 to the cat and some 100(black) for the hole of the gourd.
Hope you've had a great weekend!
See you soon!

Fall is in the Air!

Hello, stampin' friends!! I'm back today with a gate fold card. I hadn't made one of these in quite awhile so it was fun! Fall is indeed in the air here in Western New York, with somewhat cooler temps, but it's all good! Hate to see summer end, but who doesn't love fall?!On with the card! This fabulous image is one of the Rick St. Dennis exclusives for I Brake for Stamps! If you haven't seen the new ones, you have got to CHECK THEM OUT! So cute! And you may want to check this out too! The I Brake for Challenges blog has it's 8th challenge posted! It's for SHABBY/CHIC cards or projects. Not sure if mine qualifies, but I did some ink distressing and that barn paper seems pretty shabby to me! You can get details on the blog, but just so ya know, you don't have to use an IBFS image to be entered for the prize!
First I chose my type of card, then I chose my papers. After that I colored up the bear-see colors below. It took me awhile to get everything cut and sewed. Then I picked the sentiment (#740) from my Magnolia-licious stamps. I love the script! The flower element is the hardest part for me-ALWAYS! I don't just want flowers that match in color, I like them to match the theme of the card, too. So I went with a small sunflower and some fall leaves. Like a leaf bouquet, I guess!

I used E31, 33, and 35 for the fur and then just a bit of E25
His sweater is (bet you can guess!) BG10 and BG72
For the leaves I started with a range and kept going until I had what I wanted:
Y21, YR15, YR16, YR18, E08, R89 and E29
His cheeks are R22. I surrounded him with BG10 and used a clear blender to fade it out.
While the die cut was still in the die I stenciled Adirondack inks-butterscotch and then cranberry.
I still have to do the inside so the whole card has a nice presentation, but I wanted to show you the front!
any questions about my card? Just ask in a comment! Thanks!
and thanks for visiting!
Cheryl

I'm entering this in Cute Card Thursday- sketch challenge!

Acorn Collage

Good morning fellow stampers! Are you getting your turkey ready today? Not me-my sister's doing that part! So I have time to stamps and decorate today! Here is a final (maybe!) Autumn/Thanksgiving card for this year! I used the ACORN COLLAGE STAMP from I Brake for Stamps. Love it because I didn't have to layer the images. It was done for me! I just stamped it in Memento Black and then colored the leaves and acorns with my copics. You can use my code SAVE10CHERYL for 10% off your order. Check out the other collage images. I think I need MORE!
Even though the was stamped on Vintage Cream, the script background was a little bright so I used E43 and E43 to add age to it. I layered the main image on Kiwi. I layered that panel on dimensional pieces so that the twine could go under it without creating a bump. Then there's a layer of rust. The card base is Peach Parfait which has been sponged in pumpkin and then some vintage photo.

Thanks for stopping by today! Tomorrow is 25th which means another Magnolia-licious Yahoo Group Christmas All Year Long blog hop!
Hope you can take time from your kitchen duties to hop around with us!
Until next time, Cheryl

Thankful

Hi! I wanted to get another post in this week so I'll show you a Thanksgiving card I made awhile back but haven't posted. Here it is and thanks for coming by to look!
I just love the design of this Memory Box stamp that I got at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff (my LSS). I colored the "leaves" with the same colors I used for pumpkins this fall and then used a few shads of 'E' to color the owls. Done! This Basic Grey "Max and Whiskers" paper has the perfect fall colors! Then I couldn't decide which ribbon to use so I used BOTH to add some extra interest since I wasn't adding a bow.
I am thankful for you! You can still comment on my little Tilda box below for a couple of Magnolia stamps. Random.org will choose a winner tonight. AND you can still make your own Holiday decoration with a Magnolia image to win your choice of two stamps from Diana!
Details are HERE!
And don't forget about the NEW challenge blog for Magnolias! The challenge on now is to use Pink and Yellow. There will be a new challenge posted on Tuesday, Nov. 23!
Have a wonderful day!

Thanksgiving

Hello and Happy, happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is here! Since I am so thankful I thought it would be a good time to show you a Thanksgiving card I finished tonight.
This great pumpkin image is from I Brake for Stamps and you can find it HERE!
It is also available in a Half sheet with many other stamps and the pumpkin is in two sizes. The sheet is now ON SALE. You can also use my coupon code to get 10% more off your order. It's SAVE10CHERYL
The card base is Peach Parfait from SU and I just opened the package I got back in August! This color is just what I've needed this fall and I FORGOT I had it!! The designer paper is from the 6x6 pad from Basic Grey- Pyrus- awesome colors!
Well, as I type this up The Office (hilarious) is on and I'm bushed! So I think it's lights out when it's over! Night!

Mums, Doilies....

and a few weekend pics!
Hello, friends! I thought I would post earlier today, but you know how that can go! Here is one of a set of 4 cards that I made for my friend, Alice. It is a VERY late birthday gift! She is our Art Teacher at school and gave me some of the most elegant doilies I have ever seen! I used a Papertrey Ink set from last year and Bo Bunny paper with Papertrey Linen card stock and Brilliant blue (no one's favorite color from the past!) The cards are all different so I will be showing you the others during the week (I hope!)

It was so nice here Saturday am that Dave and I decided to head out on a day trip! We went to the North this time, all the way to Lake Ontario~ there is a haunted winery there called Marjim Manor, formerly Appleton Hall (which I think sounds spookier!) They have mostly fruit wines, but it is worth the trip to do a little tasting and listen to the ghost stories!
We walked out behind the Manor through the alley of trees~this is the view as we returned! (I posted my pics backwards!)

This is the Manor House from behind, the alley of trees is to the left. Are those ghosts or just shadows? Hmmmm...

This is the view as we started through the trees. There is a pond with a small house back there. In the distance you can see Lake Ontario. In the foreground is one of the resident cats. Fluffy and friendly and not scary at all!
On the way home we called my niece (who is a grad student at Canisus) and took her to lunch at My Tomato Pie (YUM!) and then we just HAD to stop at my favorite LSS-Buffalo Stamps N Stuff for some retail therapy and inspiration. Waving HI to Debbie and Marty! Two fun and talented gals!
It was a really great day!
I hope your weekend was one to remember!
Thanks for stopping! I'll announce the winner of the wine box tomorrow when I HOPE to have a Magnolia card to post!
Hugs, Cheryl

Pumpkin Harvest!

I know I've mentioned how much I love orange and coloring pumpkins! I hope you can bear with me 'cuz here is another example! This stamp in beautifull etched red rubbah is from I Brake for Stamps and is called Pumpkin Harvest.
I just love the lines of it and it was soooo fun to color. I tried the image on all sorts of Halloween paper and just couldn't get it to look right! Not one to give up I went with the soft blue that I had surrounded the pumpkin with and liked the fresh, clean look. I cut the Beaded Oval Nestability from Summer sun and then embossed it deeper and sponged it with Pumpkin pie. I thought of glittering the pumpkins, but in the end decided to leave it alone! So that's it!

I used copics in the following colors:
B000,B01 Y17, Y19, YR16, YR18, E08 YG93,95,99 and YG01
Remember if you go to I Brake for Stamps and check out with my code (SAVE10CHERYL) you will get 10% off your order!
Thanks for visiting!
You still have until tomorrow to comment on Monday's post to win a wine box you can decorate yourself!
Have a wonderful day! Yippee! It's Friday!

Blog Hop Recipe for...

Mulled wine!! You see, I don't claim to be much of a cook. I get by, but it's nothing I love to do. So, when the Janiel's October blog hop theme was announced to us it didn't take long to remember that I had some wine boxes I could use for my recipe/gift! On a cold Saturday evening at home with my DH, we love to make mulled wine for sipping!
Now if you've come here from the excellent Patti Jo you are doing great! If not, you can go to the very talented Janiel's blog and start at the beginning! Or at the Magnolia-licious blog for details on the prize to be won at the end of October!

I used Standing Fall Tilda from Magnolia-licious for my "Main gal" on the box and card. She is in Diana's store right now! Most of the dp is from a K & Co pad I got at JoAnn's last year. The small flowered paper is from Daisy D and is also from awhile back.

Sorry, same picture twice! I was having a terrible time with my photography because I didn't finish until Sunday evening!

The tag is also made with dp. To get a good tag size I almost always use a tag from the package of them I got at Office Max. I cut my top dp to the same size, adhere it and punch a hole in it. The I cut the back from card stock a little larger and adhere it to the back. After punching a hole in that I put in a large brad and set it with my Crop-a-dile. Easy tag and a little stiffer because the original tag is inside.
CANDY ALERT
I'd love to send someone a wine box and some other goodies for creating! Please leave me a comment by Saturday, October 23, and I'll pick a winner on Sunday. I'll ship anywhere, of course!
And now, off you go to the wonderful Suzanne's blog for the final entry! We hope you've been inspired today! Thanks so much for visiting here for some spiced wine!
Have a great day!
Cheryl

Pumpkins and doilies

Hello! I thought I'd get a chance to show you this on Monday, but that didn't happen! So here it is today! I know many people are working on Christmas already, but I love my fall images sooooo much! This one is from Lockhart and I think it'll make a great Thanksgiving card with the doilies from my friend, the art teacher at my schools! She gave me some beauties! This is a small (3" one cut in half) and doesn't it evoke thoughts of a Thanksgiving tablecloth!?
Love it!
I used my copics to color the pumpkins and some Papertrey ribbon to finish it off.
Thanks for coming by today! Off to see if there's something else I can finish to show you soon!
Hugs, Cheryl

Autumn Leaf

Well, don't think I'll be doing simple cards all the time, but this one practically made itself!
I mentioned yesterday that I had a happy accident while working my most recent two cards and decided to combine colors. this is the result!

ETA: I'm getting lots of comments on the leaf punch! Here are some details:
It's made by EK success. I found mine at Joann's in August (yeah, I got lucky!). It's called the LEAF CHAIN LARGE EDGER PUNCH and when I put that in the search I got quite a few hits for ordering.
I punched it and then embossed in an embossing folder (Sizzix @ SU), then inked it up!
Hope this helps! C.
The Cool Caribbean embossed background is matched with a leftover piece of leaf border from Monday's Magnolia-licious card. I fell in love with the two colors ! (did I already say that?) The border has the embossing on the opposite side as the background card stock.
Part of the reason I knew that I could make a quick card was that I had this AWESOME leaf stamped and ready to color on my table too! It is from I Brake for Stamps!

The store has been 'remodeled' for you and remember you can save 10% off your order if you use my code SAVE10CHERYL. The stamps are VERY reasonably priced, too!
Here's the link to the storefront and the leaf above. Mine is the SMALL MAPLE LEAF-2.50-3.25!

Okay, I actually kept the colors out so I could share them with you!
They are Y35, Y17, Y38, YR15, YR18 and A touch of E08. I added a little green to the 'stem' and that's it! I am going to be coloring some pumpkins with these colors to see how they look! I love ORANGEs! I'm sure you can see I added just a few stickles on the leaf edges. I did another leaf and covered it entirely with glitter, but it was too heavy and the colors became muted so it's in the discard pile!
The card base and circle are Papertrey's chocolate-it is yummy with the blue and yellow-orange!

Remember you can go to THIS POST for a chance to win some XPress It blending card from me!
(yes, this leaf is stamped on it!) Just 'leaf' a comment by Friday evening-winner to be picked on Saturday am ET
Thanks so much for coming by!
Cheryl

Life is a matter of moments..

And, we hope you'll have some special moments as you travel along our blog hop today!
Hello stampin' friends! Welcome! If you're on the blog hop and you started at Angie-Scrapgirl or at the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog, then you're all set! I'm just the second stop on your trip to see all the Bats and Broomsticks we have to show you!

I was all set to go with Tilda with broomstick and had even started to color her when I received a package from Diana! You know what that means, righta?! New rubbah! Well, I just love fall and as a child this was our favorite thing to do! How was I to resist stampin' and colorin' her up? I just couldn't!
This time I colored Tilda and then was stuck for paper to use. I tried all shades of orange dp and then laid my image on this Graphic 45 teal pattern-there was no going back. In real life the teal matches her jeans a little better than in my photo! The card layout was my next struggle and you know I'm not very good at the gorgeous flower bouquets made by so many of you! I knew I wanted to use my border punch and Spellbinder leaves. You can see the results! The sentiment is from SU and of course, Tilda is at Magnolia-licious right now!
CANDY ALERT
I had so many colors out on my table that I did not keep track, so sorry! Tilda is stamped on the paper that's all the rage for copics-the X-Press IT blending card. I ordered a ream and if you leave a comment I would like to send YOU some to try!! Diana has or will be selling smaller quantities in the store so it will be more affordable! Thanks, Diana! But for now I'd like to send you a little package! Please leave a comment saying anything you like or a favorite fall activity or food! I'll ship anywhere-please leave your comment by Friday, September 25. Thanks!
Please travel on now to see what the most talented Janiel-Scrappyjan has to show you!!
Have a wonderful Monday!
ETA: I'm so sorry that I wasn't clear! I will choose one winner for some Xpress it blending card on Saturday! please forgive me!

Happy Fall Ya'll!!

Hello! So glad you liked my pirate card below, thanks for all the love!
Mo has drawn us some images from the Wizard of Oz and here, of course, is the scarecrow! Isn't he great?! You can just see his wobbly movements as he was in the movie! This is another card that would be great for a belated birthday wish with the sentiment, "If I only had a brain" and inside "I wouldn't have missed your birthday!" Mo's images are so adaptable that way! I love everything pumpkins, scarecrows, fall and Halloween so I colored him up for a fall card. You can find him at Mo's Digital Pencil! Search for the others, too, they are awesome! She's done the tin man, the lion, BOTH witches as well!
He is colored with my copics, but I didn't keep track of all the colors-I'm sorry! I have got to quit coloring in the living room! If I color in my 'studio' I do a better job of keeping track!

See the rose? I made my own from some shabby ribbon I got from an Etsy store! I just punched a 1" disk from the dp, covered it with Scotch Quick Dry adhesive. Then I gathered the ribbon in a spiral, trying to gather it close at the bottom edge and placed it on the glued disc. It worked out okay, I think. It would smush into an envelope easily and not affect the 'rose' at all!
I do have to announce that I am leaving Mo's wonderful Dream Team with this post. I will still do her images because who can resist them?! Not me? But, my craftin' time has been chopped into by my real job and something had to give. I have loved every minute and was so honored to be working with such an excellent group! Heartfelt thanks to Mo, Jak, Mina, Peggy and ALL the rest of the team! Hugs!
Wishing YOU all best this great day can bring! thanks for visiting!

TWO projects!

This is very unusual for me! I'm not usually ahead enough to post two things at once! I had one final Autumn project that I wanted to show you and since it's officially Christmas season I thought I'd tuck it in here! See my Autumn Mum box below. While I've been waiting for my new Christmas Magnolia stamps from Diana (they came yesterday!!) I colored up this little Tilda from the Summer kit (but also sold separately due to its popularity) and put her on a chipboard ornament.
I cut the ornament from a medium thickness coaster. I used an Ellison die at school and cut it on the Ellison machine. This weight coaster does not cut with my cuttlebug. I traced, cut and glued some Cosmo Cricket paper onto the chipboard. I sanded the edges and then used distress tea dye ink on the edges followed by some matte accents glue and diamond dust glitter. Tilda is colored with copics and then mounted on dimensionals onto the chipboard. Her wings are sparkled up with Stardust stickles and her dress is painted with Angel Wings shimmerz paint. A few latte colored pearls and some Papertrey ribbon and she's ready for the tree. Very fun and easy to make!

A close up of this sweet angel.
My autumn box with papertrey inks beautiful pitcher of mums. Paper is again Cosmo Cricket.
The top of the box has one of the huge chocolate buttons from my Papertrey buttons. Love it!
Thanks so much for visiting today! We plan to get the tree out t0day and I hope to start creating with my wonderful new Magnolia stamps! This afternoon we are going to visit my SIL in the hospital. I can't thank you enough for the prayers said for her!
Wishing you an excellent day!
Cheryl

One for 'Fall like' card for today! Hope all Americans are having a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our plans are a bit differnt than what we expected. She has heart problems (only 54!) so it's important to get checked out! So we'll stay put today and go to the hospital tomorrow Any prayers for Shelly are welcomed! I wanted to use up these MME punch out flowers so pulled out this terrific fall Tilda with her basket and colored her up! The other papers are Ripe Avocado, MME and Bo bunny. There is some pink, but it looks okay IRL! Honest!
I colored her with the following copic colors;
E000, E01 and E93
E33, E35, E37 hair and boots
basket Y32, YR24 E25
