Just Us Girls #243

Hello!  Thanks so much for stopping by! I'm sorry I've been so absent from my own blog!  The end of the school year is crazy and my class had, not one, but TWO field trips this past week. And, on two consecutive days, no less!  On Wednesday we visited the Buffalo Museum of Science and on Thursday the local Special Olympics was held at a nearby college campus. I'm soooooo tired! (And, has anyone seen my mojo?!)

Sharyn has a technique Challenge for us this week that was entirely new to me and very fun to do.  Who doesn't love a project with a 'BIG reveal'?  The whole design team at Just Us Girls used the Shaving Cream technique to create our original backgrounds.  Gina K has a very helpful video on how to do this.  I just searched, "Shaving Cream technique" on Google.  I'm certain Sharyn has a link to the tutorial on the JUGSs blog as well, and, you'll see all sorts of inspiration there too!! (linked here)

For my background I used distressed ink refills in picked raspberry, mowed lawn and broken china. My cardstock colors are SUs coastal cabana and PTI's raspberry fizz-all seemed to match perfectly.  Ribbon is from PTI.
We REALLY want to see what you come up with using this technique so please join in! You have until Thursday, June 5 at 9:00 pm ET to enter on our Mr. Linky.  Come on, give it a try!
Have a great day!
Lots to do with the weekend here, but I hope to be back soon with something else!!

Oh, and one more reason for my absence-our NEW Kitten!! Meet Lily! (Oh my, that face!)

JUGS 241 Color challenge!

Hi friends!! Lisa has a great color challenge for us this week at JUGS!  It starts today, so please head on over to the blog (linked above) to see what the design team has created to inspire you!  Beautiful work!  But, perhaps before you go you'll take a look at my card! (I hope!)
You can't really tell from my card what the colors are so I'll tell you!  White, Orchid and Kraft!  I have been wanting to use this gorgeous Graphic 45 paper (sweet sentiments) since Easter and finally got around to cutting into some of it!  My 'orchid' is probably more lavendar, but I don't think Lisa will mind!  The image is from MFT's Pure Innocence line (called You're so special) I stamped her on xpress it blending and colored her with my copic markers.
I cut the image with MFT's pierced rectangle die.  The flower is also from MFT-It's called Gerbera daisy.  I got it free last month when I ordered from MFT and had a 60.00 order.  You can get it now (if you pay for it!) as it is in the May release that came out just this week.
I guess that's it for now!  Wishing you a great weekend and some time to stamp!  Please join us in the challenge this week.  We'd love to see what you create!

A card for Mom~

Hello and Happy Mother's Day!  My mother has been gone for almost 10 years and I miss her everyday.  She loved spring and the flowers that we had growing all around the house.  We were big vegetable growers in my family (grew our own meat, too!), but she and dad both loved flowers.
I used the tulip corner from Our Daily Bread along with the jar stamp and die.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Friendship Jar Spring Additions.  I think I should have made a paper label and stamped on it, but the card is done now so I'll live with it.
I decided a little stitching was in order to create a border since the card was quite simple.  I think the whole thing looks a bit crooked in the photo, but IRL it really is straight !  Bad photographer! LOL!
And, a shot at an angle to show the dimension.  The jar and flowers are raised.
Hope you are finishing the weekend doing what you want to do! I think I'll put off everything I should be doing and go out to the deck to read!  Dave is fixing supper!

#240 Technique Time at Just Us Girls!

Hello, friends and Happy Saturday!!  The Just Us Girls team is back with a Technique Challenge for you today!  It's a new one for me and I am so happy to have been given the push to try it! It won't be the last time I use 'kissing' with my stamps!  Yep, I said Kissing!  Check it out at Just Us Girls!

There is a brief tutorial on the Splitcoast Stampers site (in Tutorials), because it's such an easy thing to do!  You ink your stamp with a light color then put it on (kiss) a stamp that has been inked with a darker color. Then stamp it on your paper and you have a brand new image!
My flower image is from Simon Says Stamp.  I put Apricot Appeal ink (SU retired) on it and then pressed it to an SU background stamp (screen?) that had been inked in Pumpkin Pie.  The colors are a bit softer in real life-more peachy and orange. The die cut (in pomegranate) that is behind also comes in the set of dies from SSS.  My leaves are from Memory Box/Poppy Stamps.
My card is 4.5" square and I sure hope you like it!
We'd love to see what you come up with for this challenge so please pop on over to Just Us Girls for a link to the tutorial and much inspiration from the team to get you thinking!

Thanks for coming by today! I appreciate it so much! Have a great day!

Sketch Challenge for Just Us Girls

Hello!  I just thought I would pop in with a card I made for my sister.  Her birthday is Friday, May 9 and I had to get this in the mail today.  Took a quick photo before work today!
You have just about 24 hours to post something for the Just Us Girls Sketch Challenge that I am hosting this week!  Won't you show us what you've made?  Here's a link to the blog, but my card shows you what a simple sketch it is!  JUST US GIRLS
You can flip it for a different perspective if you'd like to!
For my card, I used Papertrey Ink's Friendship Jar and the coordinating set Friendship Jar Fillers. My card base is kraft.  Then there is a layer of Early Espresso, a layer of dotted dp, an embossed banner (also from PTI) and my copic colored image.
Pretty simple. I did add some bronze stickles to the centers of my sunflowers before I mailed it to my Sis.

Thanks for visiting!

BE Happy!

Hello!! I have something to show today from my weekend.  I was able to get this gift together for a friend's birthday.  Hope she likes it!
First is the whole box of cards with the tag I created, all tied up in a bow of Papertrey Ink ribbon.  I used the stamp set and dies from Papertrey Ink's Be Happy set.

I slid the tag and bow down so you could see one of the eight clean and simple cards in the box.  I totally stole this design from a card I have pinned on Pinterest!  I die cut and stamped a BUNCH of flowers from the set and put together combinations of aqua, pink, orange and purple for the cards.  I used various sentiments from other PTI sets so she would have a variety of occasion cards right at home!

And, finally, here is just the tag -which is my own creation. I used the pierced tags from My Favorite things and the same stamp set for this.
Can you tell I finally got on the sequin bandwagon. Am loving the set of  12 little containers with different colored sequins!!  I got mine from Simon Says Stamp.  So fun!
Well,  though I'm not too HAPPY that it is already Monday, I've had my coffee and must get ready for work!  Have a great day and thank you for visiting!
Please see post below for the Just Us Girls challenge (sketch) for the week and think about adding your own creation to our blog!

Just Us Girls #239- A Sketch!

Hi!  Wow, these weeks are so busy (and I'm tired every night!).  I'm not getting the cards made that I would like, but this weekend I'm going to a baby shower.  My good friend, Eileen is going to be a grandma very soon!  I had to get a card done to go with the gifts and gift certificate we are giving the mom to be.

Since, I am hosting the Just Us Girls challenge this week, I decided to use my own sketch for our shower card!  Two birds, one stone, ya know!?
Here's the LINK TO THE SKETCH.
I used Papertrey Ink's set called Sweet Baby along with Blueberry and some Bashful Blue from Stampin' Up that I have hoarded.  I used my new set, Polka Dots III for the spotted background.  Most of the stamping is done in Blueberry Sky.  The darker blue is Midnight Muse.
My giraffe is cut with the coordinating die and mounted on dimensional pieces. I used MFT stitched dies and Fishtail Flags for mounting my image and sentiments.
I guess that's it except to say Please visit our blog at the link above to see the DT gals inspirational cards!  We also have Barbara along for the month as our May Guest Designer!  Welcome, Barbara!
AND, we hope you'll also join us this week and link your card up with Mr. Linky on the blog by Thursday, May 8 at 9:00 pm.  That's when I'll pick our weekly winner known as our Chick of the Week!!

Have a great day and an even greater weekend!
Cheryl
