It's a Papertrey Day!

Hello!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Ours was a bit boring, but I'm determined to make it a good week!  I did get this card made yesterday, once again, from scraps I found laying around on my desk. Also found a colored image similar to this one, but the nestie had slipped and ruined it.  No problem, I stamped and recolored!
This is one of my all time favorite sets from Papertrey (along with Vintage Picnic).  I think I could color these images every day!  I love, love the 'wood' paper from My Mind's Eye's last collection.  I ordered soooo much! That's why these scraps were never thrown away!  Too good!  Now, the base layer as I'm sure you've figured out is Summer Starfruit from Stampin Up! I think it is one of those quirky colors that you hate and then love!  I'm determined to love and find colors it works with.  I started with 'Baja' because it's similar to what I THINK they used in the big SU catalog.  I cut a panel and then embossed it with Tim Holtz's wood grain folder. I sponged some soft suede to help define the grain a bit and layered it onto a card base of Summer Starfruit.
A little twine to complete the 'country' look and a card was born!
Thanks for coming by today! Enjoy your day!

Unfrogettable!

Hi!  It paid off to work on cleaning and straightening my craft studio yesterday! I found pieces for about 6 cards that could be finished in a small amount of time.  this is one of them.  I found this frog (Unfrogettable set, SU!)  I had watercolored some time ago and even this little piece of notepaper from Papertrey ink. A little embossing and stitching and I had a card!

I'll make this a quick post so I can get some of the other cards finished.  And, when I found the pieces I got sidetracked (excited, too!), so still have some work to do in the room!! LOL!
Enjoy your day to the fullest!!  Thanks for coming by!!

Pumpkin Stack

Hello there!  I've had a busy couple of days, but have made some time to color.  I just love Impression Obsession scenes by Gary Robertson.  This one is called Pumpkin Stack.  One of the thing I love about his scenes is that there is often a cat hidden somewhere in the image.  Can you find it?  Here is a link to the stamp in the store: PUMPKIN STACK (H1835)

The image is stamped on Xpress it blending card and colored with copics.  I trimmed with just a bit of white border and mounted on Su dsp-concord crush (retired).  Then there's a layer of Peach Parfait and finally a Kraft cardstock base.  The images are a nice size so I left other embelllishments off to give it center stage.
I'm linking this to the Impression Obsession challenge which closes tonight!  I just made it!
Enjoy the rest of your evening!! Cheryl

First Halloween card of 2012

This one's in honor of the featured stamper for this week over at SCS! Sophie LaFontaine!  She has an amazing gallery and I counted at least 6 that I'd like to case.  I chose one of her Halloween cards to work with.  HERE It Is.

I used this adorable Dracula ($1 stamps from Michael's last year). Instead of a window I used this new (to me) Spellbinders' antique frame shapeability. I wanted the frame on dimensionals, so to make it stronger I inked my cut out frame with Versamark and then covered it with black embossing powder. It's a little bit shiny and more sturdy now.  I wanted it to look like a family portrait in the hall of a 'haunted' mansion!  I used some MME paper for the wallpaper-it's felted so it feels really cool!  The "floor" is from a Basic Grey pad as is the "wall" right behind Drac.
Drac is colored with copics. Greens used are YG21,  YG03, YG23 and YG25.  I used  C1, C3 and C5 for his cape and hair.  The YR12, YR16 and YR18 for his vest.  After I added some white pen to his teeth and some sparkle to his vest. I didn't re shoot the pictures, but it looks good, I think!
Guess that's it! I took the above picture so you could see the dimension the card has/

Enjoy your day!

Another Beachy Day!!

Hello friends!! I have a card today for two challenges at Splitcoast Stampers-WT384~ Hit the Beach and F4A126 Weather or Not.  We are all talking about the weather these days and I feel awful for all those suffering from the unrelenting heat. And it's so terrible for the farmers!  We finally had a rainy afternoon yesterday and into the evening and today is cooler, thank goodness. I wish that for everyone else who needs it!
I've used some of my favorite colors~Aqua and Red~ together they are wonderful!  Beach Tilda (#237) was stamped on Xpress it Blending card, then masked so the DOCK (don't know number) could be stamped.  If you don't have the dock and would like it, please contact Diana at Magnolia-licious and she will surely help you!
And, by the way, the sentiment is ALSO from Magnolia-licious!  Diana is having a GREAT sale on the mini sentiments! What a deal!  Check those out HERE!

I used an MFT flower die for my flower. Tilda is colored with copics, as is my little background.  I used Copic Opaque White paint to make the sea foam.  I even stitched the circle AGIAN!  (See yesterday's card below)
Well, I guess that's it for me today!  After I straighten the studio a bit I hope to get some of my new stamps inky!
Have a fabulous Friday, dear friends!!

IT'S YOUR DAY!!

Actually, I feel likes it my day today!  I had time to particpate in the SCS sketch challenge today and that makes me very happy!  Even better, I got to use another of my new Magnolia-licious Magnolia stamps!! Diana has the new collection in the store (and minis, too!!)  Not only do you get a discount but you get store credit (free money) just for shopping!  Nuthin' better!  Here's the LINK to #301 TILDA WITH CARROTS,  but feel free to stay and look around the store!
As I mentioned I used this week's sketch on SCS (#394). I colored Tilda with copics, which are listed below.  When I was laying this out I had an image in my head of it as an applique on clothing.  So, then, I HAD to get the sewing machine out and do some stitching!  The upper corner looked bare to me so I threw on some buttons, monochromatic so they don't steal your eye away from the sun and the Tilda.
It's really bugging me that I got something on her chin!  When I finish, I'm going to work to get it off!
Dps are from Papertrey Ink and Bo Bunny. Tilda is raised on dimensionals and then the edges of the image are glued to the paper for a rounded look.  Still trying to decide whether to add stickles.

I'd also like to enter this into the following challenges:
Crafty Sentiments (blue and orange)
Everybody-Art challenge (summer)
TipTopTuesday (circles)
Tuesday Alchemy (Button, button....)
Stamp N Plus (Anything Goes)

ETA: OOPS!  Need to add copics used:
E000, R30 and E11 skin
B41,93 and 97 jeans
Y000, 21,YR12, 16, 18 , E97 carrots, doo rag, basket
E30, 42 shirt
G40, 82, 85 garden gloves, carrot tops
E30, 31, 25 boots
E50, Y21, E97 hair

Thanks for coming by today-Have a GREAT day!!

Summertime Camping! (AND a winner!)

Hello!! Are you a camper?  When I was a kid that's the only kind of vacation we had.  Six children meant there wasn't a lot of extra money laying around!  Camping was cheap then, but it sure was a lot of work for my mom!  She cooked all of our meals, same as at home.  Maybe that's why this image just cracks me up!  I love this little trailer from I Brake for Stamps!  (YOu can use my code SAVE10CHERYL for 10% off your whole order!)
This card is my dt sample for our current challenge-RED, WHITE AND BLUE!  Please see this link on how to join in! You have until the end of the month and ANY stamps are allowed!  And a Prize!!

Here are a couple of our pics from Maine!  Below is our trip out to Wood Island to see the renovations that have so far been completed on Wood Island Light.  It's just off the coast at Biddeford Pool.  The volunteer group working to preserve and restore this beautiful American lighthouse (commissioned by Thomas Jefferson in 1809) is called FOWIL (Friends of Wood Island Light).

And, here is the sunrise on the day we had to leave! Gorgeous!
AND, finally, i have a winner of my blog candy from my July 1 post for Magnolia-licious!! I had 24 comments and Random.org chose comment number TWO!

MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS DT JULY BLOG HOP!!!

Our hop this month is called ROUND OFF-meaning that to enter we want you to make anything but a square or rectangular shaped card. I just love making shaped cards with my Grand Nestabilities!  Fun challenge!  Another thing I love is when new Magnolia stamps arrive in the mail!!  Here is #283 TILDA WITH A GIFT FOR YOU from the new Turning Leaves Collection!  Diana has them in stock and shipping now-including MINIs!!
Before I go further, I want to say that you can find the whole darned hop order HERE at Magnolia-licious Highlites..  If you arrived at my blog from the FAB-U-LOUS Angie at Scrap-girl you are doing great!!
On with a few details-The card base is Spellbinders Labels four in the grand size.  The increments are 1/4".  I cut two of the largest size then on the yellow one I trimmed off the embossed edge to get the die cuts closer in size. My paper is My Mind's Eye (Nostalgia) and Webster's pages (Tell Your Story).  i used a Memory box die for the leaves and an MFT die for the roses. The die behind Tilda is from Marianne designs, I think.
The star of the show, though, is the beautiful Tilda!! She is colored with copics.  I used E000, E11 and R30 for her face.  Once in a while I like to add shading to create a 'nose'.  Her hair is E50, Y21, E97 and E99. Her shoes are E31, E35, E25,  The gift is BG10 and 11 with Y21 and E31 for the raffia.  Her dress is R30, R21 and  R22.  I added some Star Dust stickles to the gift, tilda's bow and to the roses.
Dave and I just returned from our week on the Maine coast.  We just love it there and had a week of amazing weather and good times.  We found some new hiking places, a couple of new places to visit and a couple of new places to eat lobster!!  I will show a couple of pictures soon.
I was in such a packing craze before we left that i forgot to choose my blog candy winner, so I will do that in the morning and post it on Tuesday (July 17).  My sincere apologies on that!
AND, now off you go to visit my buddy Sharon's blog for some super EYE CANDY!
When you finish, we hope you'll start planning your shapely project to join in our challenge!!

Thanks for coming by today!!
Have a great Monday! Hugs, Cheryl

Happy Fourth of July!!

Hello friends!! I wish all Americans a Happy fourth of July!! This is such a great country and I am grateful everyday for it!  I also hope for relief from heat and other problems to those suffering in our country.  A stampin' friend asked me about a watermelon card and showed me a picture of one she had found.  I'm sorry, I don't know who to give credit for this design, but I used her card to make a couple for my friend, Cindy!
I used my Grand Circle nestabilities for the large card base in white.  Then I cut the same size circle from a digital paper from a NitWit collection.  The red and pink dots are from my 'stash'. I used the large scallop circle in the biggest size for the white edging.  I hand cut some 'seeds' from black cardstock.
This card is embellsihed with a bow and a button
And this one with a bow, button and tag (SU sentiment).

Wishing you fun and watermelon today!!
There is still time to enter for my blog candy.  Please visit and comment on THIS POST to be entered.  Winner to be chosen Friday am around 9:00 ET.

NEW CHALLENGE~CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!

Hellooo!! We are in a stretch of wonderful summer weather here in Western New York!  We could use some rain, but the sun sure is nice!  With July here, the Magnolia-lcious DT has a new challenge, brought to us by DT sister Janiel!  As you can tell from my title, the challenge is Christmas in July and the twist is it's in MINI style!  I love coloring up these Magnolia minis!  The lovely Diana Crick has the recent collections in perfect groups of two for one very reasonable price! Here's the STORE!  And, here's the LINK to the DT BLOG with all CHALLENGE details! In a nutshell, we give you ALL MONTH to enter and there's prize money involved!
I have blog candy to give away-see bottom of post!
I made TWO Christmasy gift items this time! There's a super little 3X3 gift box tied at the top and a notepad to keep track of all your gift giving or Holiday cards! Well, if a box has 4 sides, they all have to be decorated, don't they?!
Here's #3093 Winter Tilda (just click the store link and put the number in the search box!)
Here's Tucked Tilda (sorry, I don't have the number for this one!)
And, here's #3058 SWEET CHRISTMAS TILDA
The 4th side is this Magnolia ticket LOVING CHRISTMAS WISHES fromt he 2008 collection.
And, yes, the creator of this template lined the inside of the box, so I did too!
Here's the notepad cover.  The notepad comes in sets of 10 pads from Papertrey INk and, as far as I know my friend, Michele Ghent (mitchygitchygoomy on SCS) created this cover style. It's held closed with a Basic Grey magnet and that little ribbon is the 'handle' to open the notepad. The narrow 2-1/2 X 8 1/4 inches is THE PERFECT size for the minis!!
The notepad open-magnet covered with a couple of punched pieces.  Here's the LINK to Michele's version, but be sure to check out her whole amazing gallery while you're there!
And, I'm sure you want the link to the box tutorial as well!! It's by Tracy and it's RIGHT HERE!

Okay that's it for me today, except to say that I have goofed and ordered two of some new things! I want to give them to some other crafter! I have an MFT die set of MINI ROYAL ROSES and a branch STAMP AND DIE from IMPRESSION OBSESSION!  I will also add a Magnolia stamp or two into your package!! PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT TO BE ENTERED AND I'LL PICK A WINNER ON FRIDAY, JULY 6!!
Thanks for coming by! Please join in our Christmas in July challenge, mini style this month!! We want to see what you create!!
Hugs to all! Cheryl
