Food Truck Tuesday! (JUGS challenge-take 2)

Hi! I'm back with another post for Maria's Just Us Girls Photo Inspiration challenge this week!  To see her photo and the DT inspiration cards please come on over to our blog HERE.
I mentioned in my post on Saturday that the SU Loads of Love truck was calling out to be colored for the challenge, so here it is!
I also used Happy Summer (mini set) from Lawn Fawn (watermelon, ants, sentiment and tracks!).  My gingham background is stamped in PTI's berry sorbet with Impression Obsession's gingham Bg (6"x6").  I stamped the truck on tim Holtz watercolor paper and watercolored it using SU reinkers, but the watermelons are stamped on xpress it blending and colored with copics.  Good watermelon colors to match are R30, 32 and 35.  Greens are YG23, 25, and 95.
My card base is berry sorbet and card edges are sponged with berry sorbet and then some cherry cobbler.
Hope you can find time to particpate in our challenge this week!  You have until Thursday and 9 pm ET.  And, you won't want to miss our upcoming challenge (Saturday, July 4). It's our 300th challenge!!  Prizes, prizes, prizes!!

Thanks for coming by!

Just Us Girls #299 Photo challenge!

Hello!  Thanks for coming by!  Maria at Just Us Girls has this great photo to inspire us to create this week!  As you'll see below I went straight for those lucious watermelons as inspiration for my card (but the SU truck is calling to me from the shelf!). After you've checked out the team's inspired cards, we sure hope you'll join us this week in the challenge!  Chics of the week in June have a chance to be out Guest Designer in August!

Now, I'm not a big fan of eating watermelon, but who can resist the colors!!? Certainly not me!! I love them together! As I was coloring yesterday I was thinking they are like Christmas colors for summer!  Here's my card:
I used a white card base.  The embossed layer is Berry Sorbet from PTI and is embossed with a basket weave I picked up at my local stamp store once (Buffalo Stamps and Stuff).  It's sponged with Berry Sorbet ink to show dimension.  the watermelon stamp (from Imaginations) is stamped in Stazon black onto Tim Holtz watercolor paper and watercolored with reinkers from SU.  I used cameo coral to match the bery sorbet then added a little cherry cobbler to darken edges.  The greens are certainly celery and old olive. I die cut a circle from MFT cross stitched die and stenciled some pool party ink onto it while still in the die.  The water melon is mounted on foam tape for dimension

The sentiment is from a little set (PTI) and is stamped in Versamark ink on vellum and embossed with white EP.  I used a white pen to 'stitch' around the edge of the card and some stickles on the watermelon rind. A great, summery thank you or birthday card ready to go!!
Have a great day and weekend!

Just Us Girls #298 Color Week!

Hi everyone!  I'm back and happy to be here!  Ina has a great color challenge for us this week.  Ina is from Down Under and I'm wondering if it's autumn in Australia since her colors are very autumnal for us here in North America!  Anyway, they are beautiful colors!  We'd love to see what you create with them . In the meantime you can find loads of inspiration HERE on our blog!

I had Cherry Cobbler all picked out for the base, but when I was ready to put the card together I changed my mind and went with PTI's Berry Sorbet as a base and stamped in Cherry cobbler (MFT grid stamp) for a better look, IMO!  The next layer is cut with a PTI die from a Marigold or Hello Honey (not sure which) from SU.  The cross stitch die is from MFT as is the stamp set YOU GNOME ME.
The white piece behind my gnome is stenciled while in the die with Coastal Cabana and Lucky Limeage.  Then I spritzed some water into my hand and sprinkled it on the piece.  I need some practice with this splatter technique, but I wanted to splotch up the bg a bit and it sure die.  I added some grass with a black Sharpie.  The gnome is colored with copic markers.
Well I guess that's it for my red and gold card today.

Remember, by joining us this month you have the chance to win a spot as out guest Designer in August!  We'd sure love to see your work! YOu have until Thursday, June 25 at 9 pm ET to link up

Have a great weekend. Cheryl

Just Us Girls #296 Word Week!

I'm not usually this late to a party, and this is a GOOOOd one!! Nancy has the BEST word for us this week!  It's SUMMMMMMER!!  Please join us in creating something that screams summer!
I'm busy at school trying to meet all my deadlines, but could not miss out on Nancy's challenge!
JUGS BLOG Here

Here's my card!  Just about the time we are out of school will be cherry season around here where I live!

I've used Papertrey Ink's set A Second Helping of Sunshine (and dies) to make this clean and simple card.  I love the effect of cutting and stamping a die.  Gives me a use for all those colored ink pads!
I did add a touch of darker copic marker to the top of the bowl.  The stitched rect. die is from MFT Blueprints 20.
The sentiment is from another PTI set called Summer Sweetness (popsicles!) and the woodgrain stencil which I inked in sahara sand is from Tim Holtz.  Pretty easy, right? But, I love how it came out. Now which one of my teacher friends do I send it to???

You still have until Thursday, June 11 at 9 pm ET to link up your SUMMER card or project and you know we'd love to see it!!

thanks for coming by! Cheryl
