Monday?... Already?

Hi, friends! I have no idea where the weekend went, but I hope all of you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Dave and I had a great weekend. Lots of time together and I got to see some of my family, too! Here's another Poppy card I finished on Sunday night. I love this layout for a square card! This one happens to be 4.5" square so I could show some of the beautiful October Afternoon paper. I think one is from Thrift shop and the other from Fly a Kite. Mix and match!
I tried something I saw at my LSS-I colored and extra 'face' and 'flower' and glued them right on top of the base image. It just gives a subtle dimension to the card. I like it. The flower is a new one from Prima-peach and orange colors. Yum!

This was the "not so good" part of our weekend. I guess I have bragged too much about our beautiful weather! We got some rain, but LOTS of wind. Saturday afternoon Dave looked our the kitchen window and said, " Our apple tree is down!" We went out and were surprised to see that it had just tipped over! Soooo sad!
Here's Dave surveying the work ahead of him to get it cut up! It will remove some of our backyard shade and a haven for many of our birds including the Baltimore Orioles who have just returned to eat grape jelly from our feeder. We'll miss this old friend.
Wishing you a great day, and as always thanks for visiting!
Cheryl

It sure WAS windy! Sorry you lost the tree.
The card is oh so cute though! I had to laugh, 'cause the Swiss Pixie card I posted on Friday had the same thing...the girl's face and arms were cut a second time and glued on top. I wanted to pop them up but it looked awful so I ended up gluing them down. lol.

WOW Cheryl!! These little poppy stamps are just so adorable and you always have the perfect pairing of papers for the best compliments to your wonderful coloring skills. Love them. So sorry to hear about the apple tree. We lost one the same way about 10 years ago. Our winds were high too, a few days ago but we only lost a few pieces of downpipe from the eaves trough!

Your gorgeous gardens look like a heavenly haven and I would love to rest there with a cup of tea, too!! Just beautiful.

Hi Cheryl, Another cute card. I love that flower. Sorry about your apple tree, that will be a bit of work. I think it is lovely smelling wood to burn in a fireplace or backyard camp fire so maybe you will get a little more enjoyment from your tree. We had the wind here in SW.ON, but only a few small branches came down. Nancy

Such a sweet card. So sorry about your poor tree. We had very strong wind here in Quebec as well but nothing like this happened.

Beautiful Card, Cheryl. Loved the colors. Sorry about your tree. They take so long to grow and then one big wind----gone. Cheryl
