A Prosperous New Year!

Hi friends! I had many thoughts as I created this card last night, so I'll warn you now this post might get wordy!

I still want to use so many of the Christmas/So Snowy collection of stamps from Magnolia-licious! Since it's New Year's Eve I settled on this one! There are so many customs to bring you luck in the coming year. Having a pig is one sign of prosperity in the New Year. Now in the brief research I did there was more discussion on EATING pork to bring this prosperity, but who could consider eating this cute fella! With the small gathering we had for Christmas dinner, Dave and I have been eating pork all week anyway! I'm sick of it! I even cooked the ham bone in some bean soup! I've never done that before! The soup was delicious! By the way beans are another food of choice to get that New Year's luck!

This card is 4 1/2" by 5 1/2" and is top folded. I like this size when I want a bigger card that is not square. Sometimes a 6 x 6" is too much space for me to fill with my limited creativity when it comes to layout and embellishments! LOL!

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. It is called Signature greetings and I am so glad I bought it! All the sentiments are terrific.

This card fits a challenge that I saw on my friend, Lisa's blog, Kind Creations.

The challenge is to make a card which illustrates a New Year's resolution! Lisa's is to use up some of her dp! That's a great one for me too, and I've used some older MME papers on this card! I can't tell you how many sheets of these two patterns I bought- a lot!! Anyway, another resolution of mine is to use more sentiments on the front of my cards! Please check out Lisa's blog for the link to the Artful Inkables challenge blog!

Funny story! I had to do a tail transplant on the little pig! I tore it off as I was trying to get the image centered on the oval! I just stamped another, cut it out and used a glue dot to stick a portion of the piggie's butt under the image! It worked!

Before I list the colors, I have to say that I know our friend, Jacque, has done more research on the meaning of some of the Magnolia images. I'm sure you could jot her a note and she could link you to her post for further information! Rght, Jacque?

Irina of La-La Land Crafts has asked me to be one of her guest designers for January and February! I was delighted and there will be a blog hop to show her new images on January 6, 2010! Thanks, Irina!

there will be a Copic Creations Challenge post tomorrow that you won't want to miss! I promise NOT to be as long winded!

Here are the colors:

E000, E01 and R20 skin AND piglet

BG10, Bg72 and BG18 Aqua

YG21, YG25 greens

Y21, E99 and E39 for hair and bench

Have a wonderful day and evening! Stay safe! Wishing YOU a prosperous year!

Back with Mo!

ello! I had no intention to take so long between posts! I'm sorry! I've been creating fast things and getting them out the door! I finished our Christmas cards yesterday! Whew! I figure it still counts if you mail them before New Year's Day!
I'd like to say I've started next year's Christmas cards, but nope! Look at this older Mo's digital Pencil image! Her sweater and jeans have hearts! Perfect for Valentine's Day and many other occasions through the year! Love it! If you do too, you can find it here: Mo's Digital Pencil. I'm crazy right now about the colors in Cosmo's chemistry paper from last year AND they are also in the new MME for this year! These colors are such a change from Christmas that it is so fun to create with them!

So, I didn't save the colors for this-am coloring in the living room again because I am tearing wallpaper off the craft room wall now! If there's something you really need to know, just ask. I'll figure it out!

Thanks for sticking with me during my absence-I appreciate that!

Have a great day! Cheryl

P.s. Carol, I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you on the SU ornament card! I'll try to get it done later today or tomorrow! If there's anyone else I've forgotten to answer, please ask again, and I'll try to do better!

A Quick post is Better than no post!

At least I hope so! Here are a couple of the boxes I've made for my principal and school secretary. The design was created by my friend, Tracy (lodichick on SCS) . She made one to hold an 8oz. canning jar. That's exactly what I'm putting in mine-a jar with various candy.

I think they make such a cute presentation! A tag can easily be put around the button on top with the recipient's name! Not sure I'll have time for that!

Hope you like! Here's a link to Tracy's blog post-scroll down to see her examples. She did the tutorial for Cornish Heritage Farms.
Have a great day! Back to work! (But it's fun work!)
Oops! Forgot to include the link! (Thanks, Jen!)
Here it is Inky Doodles (See the Oct 28 post)
Sorry!

Happy New Year!

No, not just yet, but that's what we'll be getting ready for soon! If I don't get going on our Christmas cards I may as well send New Year's cards! Suzanne challenged us to make a pop up card for the blog hop and Mo created this special image for us to use! You can get yours here: Mo's Digital Pencil. I'm sure you will love the ideas you get as you hop around! Suzanne started the hope so if you started here you may want to go to ScrapBitz. I know she'll have something fabulous cooked up!
My card is a Wiper card and can be found in the resources section of SCS. When you pull on the sides of the card the "wiper" panel with the sentiment pops up and looks like my New Year's Baby is reaching for it! Love how this one came out!
I used the following colors:
E000, e01 and R20
B41, b21, b45
YG21, YG93 and YG95
E43 for the sash
From here you will travel to the wonderfully talented Mina! I know she'll have something special to show you! Go HERE!
If you're lovin' the hop, please let us know in your comments! We all love to here from you!
Thanks for the love you send me every day! Your visits warm my heart

Freezin' Season!

Hi friends! This Cozy Tilda is ready for the Freezin' Season that's upon us in Western New York!
I just love her in her snowsuit! She came to me from the Magnolia-licious store! You can find her HERE!
Diana tons of Great Magnolia images in stock now!
I'm keepin' it super simple these days with so much to do! I used some of my Coordinations paper from my LSS, ran it through the in the snowflake embossing folder and then sanded like crazy to pull out the lighter color. I cut some white snowflakes with Snowflakes 1 die and sponged them with Baja Breeze before taking them out of the die. Then I used stardust stickles on them and put them together with a dimensional between.
The oval nestability is brushed with a little aqua mist and the Stampin up snowflakes are stamped with Soft Suede.
As you might guess, Tilda is colored with my copic markers!
I used my favorite BG shades. BG10, BG72 and BG18 (just a touch) I blended with BG0000 to get it smooth.
I'm lovin' E43 as a Soft Suede match. I blend with the 0 marker or with E0000
That's about it on this one and I hope you like it!
Thanks for coming by today! Tomorrow is a Mo's Design Team Blog hope and I think you'll love what we've come up with. Here's a hint: I hope you'll POP in!
Have a super Wednesday!
Cheryl

To Carol Meadows- Yes, I'll be emailing you what materials were used in the SU card the other day! Thanks for asking!

CCC-Pine

I just love this image and haven't used it enough! Here are two of the mice from House Mouse designs bringing home the Christmas tree!
Our challenge is to color Pine and we would love for you to join in! Mary has linked up Marrianne Walkers guide to coloring pine. It is much more realistic than mine, but it isn't as hard as it looks. Please visit the Copic Creations Challenge blog for all the details on the challenge and the PRIZE!!
In case you are wondering,

I used YG21, YG93, YG95 and YG97 for my pine.

Have a terrific Tuesday!
Hugs, Cheryl

Delightful Decoration!

Good morning! Well after a three day weekend due to all the snow, it's back to work today! I wish I had gotten done everything on my list, but that didn't happen. I wish I could understand why a cardmaker (me!) does not like getting Christmas cards ready to mail! I put it off until the last second! Love to get them, though! I made this card yesterday afternoon for the Featured Stamper challenge on SCS Pam124. I loved going through her gallery, but ended up choosing a recent card of hers. I'll link it in my SCS gallery.
I used Delightful Decorations from the SU mini book. Not sure if it shows, but I used white shimmer paper which really makes the card, IMHO! The green is Papertrey's Spring Moss card stock and ink with Ripe Avocado behind the snowflake panel.

thanks for visiting today! Tomorrow is the 15th and that means another Copic Creations Challenge! Please stop by, if you get a chance!
Enjoy your day! and thanks for all the lovely comments! I love reading them!

Meet....Sophie!

Hello! Here is Sophie-an image from Mo's Digital Pencil! I just love her! She is so darn cute!! You can see her here at Mos' Digital Pencil.
I used my copics to color her, and I'm sorry , but I cleaned up my desk before writing the colors down. She is match to dps from Cosmo Cricket (Nutmeg collection) and the new My Minds' Eye (Beloved). I love that they have the same colors! I used an old Taylor's Expressions sketch and a new Martha Stewart edge punch to complete my design.
I'm off to do the Featured Stamper challenge for today. Well, I think I'd better get some presents wrapped first while my DH is gone to visit his brother.
I hope you are up to something today that's lots of fun for ya!
Hugs, Cheryl

And, don't forget you can see more of Mo's images made into cards and projects right HERE! It's our blog!

Elegant Poinsettias

Hello and Happy Friday! Due to lake effect snow I had the day off from work! Yeah! I actually made the pink card the other night. Yesterday I colored this red poinsettia, by candlelight! We lost power in the morning. It was before I had to get ready for work. I usually watch something I've recorded on TV and look around the blogs. Our power went off so I decided to color! This is my result! It was a nice surprise when power returned! I decided to mount it on the same type of card I had made the other night.
So there you have it-two elegant poinsettias! Image is from the Poinsettia and Boxwood set by Flourishes. I stamped the image twice and colored some of the leaves green on the extra one and attached them underneath with glue dots.

Snow date!

Hi stamping friends! We are really going to get some winter weather today, tomorrow and Friday! What better way to deal with it than the fun part-making snowmen! Here is a snow couple out on a snow date! This is a Whipper Snapper image that I colored with my copics. Snowmen color so quickly, don't they? I'm not sure what the stuff is coming out of their sleigh. I was indecisive so I colored it yellow like straw. Then I looked at the WSD site and it is colored green (leaves?) so I colored over it! Shouldn't have done that as I got this muddy color! Oh well, I think the snowfolk are the best part of the image anyway so what's a little mistake!
The dp is Cosmo Cricket (plaid) and the polka dot is unknown to me (from my stash). The buttons on the top left were added to color a brown splotch that suddenly appeared on my image circle! They're not always mistakes, they can be opportunities!
Thank you very much for coming by today! Have a wonderful Wednesday! We have Dave's Kiwanis Christmas party tonight. Isn't it terrible that I'd rather stay at home!?

Baby, it's cold outside!

But this is Cozy Tilda and she's warm and toasty and ready for the Christmas tree! I made this ornament from an Ellison die at school. I cut out one of my medium weight coasters that had been collecting dust! I covered it with MME paper and then sanded and sponged the edges.
There is a similar ornament to this one Here
On this one I used Stardust Stickles on the edges of the snowflake cut out.
This adorable Tilda came from Magnolia-licious. The link to the store is at the side. This one doesn't seem to be in stock now, but you can certainly email Diana to make a request for her!

I used E43 as my base brown for the suede look boots. To that I added a couple of darker brown. (I din't write them down, sorry!)
My pinks are R30, R81 and R83 blended with R0000.
I used BG000 andBG10 on her winds and fur. I colored the fur a little darker so it shows through the Fun Flock (white) that I added! Love that stuff! After I added a few more stickles she was done and mounted on dimensionals onto the ornament.
I hope to get some more of these done-they are really quite easy for someone who loves to color as I do!
Please remember you have until the end of the month to enter your shape card in the Magnolia-licious December challenge. You can find details and inspiration HERE.
Regarding the Mo's Digital Pencil Design Team Blog that I announced last week-IT IS NOW OPEN TO EVERYONE!! You can find it HERE. (We are so sorry that it said by invitation last week-it has now been opened up!)
Thanks so much for coming by! Thanks also for all the wonderful comments yesterday on the card that is my new favorite!
Have a great day!

Cocoa Christmas!

Hi! I made this card this morning for the Featured Stamper challenge at SCS! I haven't played in awhile, but HAD to today because the FS is my friend, Michele (MitchyGitchyGoomy). She is a great person and a VERY talented artist! This is Tilda Unwrapped. I had her colored up and went through what seemed like tons of dp trying to find THE paper! Do you ever do that? Often I choose the paper first, but this time just colored the image. Well, I finally figured out that I needed to use a cocoa or chocolate to go with my red and green. Then it came together. I'm afraid my pictures are a little dark, but IRL they are deep and rich. (I really love this card!)

I carefully cut out the image even thought there are really skinny parts. You can probably see that I left some white and then just sponged it with some color. I think this works okay on those really difficult images.
The dp is is from a Creative Imaginations pad that I got at Michael's. The regular prices are sometimes ridiculous, but if you can use your coupon it's a bit better. That's what I did! I'm sure that's something all of you know!
My reds are R46 and R59.
Tilda's skin is my usual E0000, E01 and E93
The tan color is E43 and E42, lightened with a little blender and some E0000
The greens are G0000, YG11, G12, and G29
I'm off to post on SCS!
Thanks so much for visiting. If there's ever anything else you'd like to know about a card just let me know. I try to get back and answer any questions!

PeppermintSticky!

Hello stampin' friends and Happy Friday! Wow, am I ready for the weekend! Isn't this little guy the cutest thing?! I just love him! His name is Sticky and he is available at Mo's Digital Pencil. I colored him up with my copics. I just love lime green (like the Grinch) with red!
Look at the stripes of Basic Grey paper! Dont' they remind you of peppermint sticks? That's what I was going for!
Not much more to say as I am typing this late and night and should get to bed! (If you ever have any question please ask! I'll try to answer!)
I'll add the colors tomorrow! Kay?
Enjoy your day!

December challenge-Get in shape!

With your card, that is! The challenge is to make a Magnolia card that is any other shape EXCEPT rectangle or square. Please join in the challenge for the chance to win a $10.00 Gift Certificate to Diana's store-Magnolia-licious! HERE are the details and where to link your card! A side benefit of the challenge is what I discovered-making the card into a shape was fun!! I really could mass produce these-nothing fancy! I colored Tilda then decided she needed to sit in the new Snow Circle which is also from the recent release of new images! It's right HERE!
the Tilda is called Santa's Helper and she is there, too!
To do this you fold your paper in half and lay it in the Nestability die with the top going above the die and then cut it! Easy!
I stamped the snowy circle in black on white paper and then went over the design with BG10 and BG72 copics. After that Iput it back in the die and used my stencil brush for a soft coating of Aqua Mist ink. Then I added Stickles

Tilda is colored with copic. The blues are BG0000, and BG10 and the face is my usual colors. I will look up the number, but the red is Strong Red and the darker color is R59.

The way the die is cut leaves two little holes so I threaded this silver cord through to show it could also be an ornament. Or how about stamping the inside and hanging it over the neck of a bottle of wine as a gift. A magnet could be used to hold the card together for either of these ideas.
I'm pretty crazy about this one and hope you like it too!
Thanks so very muchfor visiting and for your comments!

Second card-Snow in Blue

Good morning! Wow, thank you so much for all the great comments yesterday! Weren't all the snowman cards just terrific!
As promised, here's my second with the snow colored with blues and a similar layout. I did make this one as an easel card which is so fun and easy! I used Baja Blue and Celery to match my Wintergreen (SU paper which I have hoarded! I love it so much! I think it was made to match Sage Shadow, but it is perfect with Baja! The layour on the front of the card is a sketch by Cindy Lawrence in a past VSN on splitcoast. It's a real keeper for large center images. I used my copics to color the snow. I started very light with BG0000, then BG10 and sparingly BG72 for the darkest. I used the cool greys for his hat and YGs for the vest. Here are the YGs I used YG01, YG21, YG93 and YG95.
Remember the team wants to see how YOU color snow! You can check out the details on Copic Creations Challenge Blog. You can win 25.00 from Whipper Snapper!
Lest you think this has become a snowman blog-tomorrow I will have a Magnolia card with one of the new Maggies!
Thanks for visiting!
Hugs, Cheryl

CCC-Let it Snow!

We are supposed to get some snow tonight so this challenge is perfect! I love coloring snowmen! You just keep it light with a little color and voila! Actually, coloring snowmen reminds me of many nights when I tole painted wood. Snowmen and Santas were favorites of mine! They still are! This challenged is sponsored by Whipper Snapper. They have so many great stamps! They are donating a 25.00 gift certificate to the winning cardmaker! I decided to make the snow "brown" on this card and go with an antique look. It was lots of fun to coordinate with this wonderful Cosmo paper called Winter Wonderland.
I used E43, E42 , E40 and E000 for the snow.
I even used distressed stickles in linen for the muted sparkle!
Anna Wight's snowflakes are favorites on cards like this and Nicole Heady's packages of buttons have buttons of the same color but different sizes which are perfect!

Now I really had fun with this and made another card using a similar layout, the same snowman, but completely different colors with a focus on BLUE snow! I hope you'll return tomorrow to see him.
Thanks for visiting! Be sure to check out the art from the other designers! Copic Creations Challenge is HERE! (If the post isn't up yet it will be soon!)
Have a great day! SIL is doing better! I am so grateful for your prayers!
