Cheers for Amber!

Amber is my niece and this is what I made for her for her 23rd birthday early in August. I think she liked it much! Henry the mouse is my favorite line from Whiff of Joy so I generally buy them all! So glad I got this one! I used my favorite summer papers for this year from Bo Bunny once again. I don't remember where I got the sketch, but it was perfect to show off a couple of the papers with Henry's matching Hawaiian shirt, I think! The card case is a template from Papertrey Ink and it held a gift card for Amber.
You still have until tomorrow to enter a card in our Magnolia-lcious Birthday card challenge
HERE! The prize is TWO Magnolia stamps of your choice from Diana!
And, to enter a Reflection card in our Copic Creations Challenge where the prize is one of Suzanne's online copic classes! Details HERE!
There will be NEW challenges on both of these blogs when we enter the new month on Wednesday! Time flies, huh?
And, with that, I thank you so much for coming by today! I truly hope you've seen something you like!
Have a wonderful day! Cheryl

A Halloween Hi!

Wow! It's already the final weekend of August! How did that happen!? It's all good, though. My classrooms are ready and we have a few days off still next week for me to do the "brain work" of figuring out the kiddos and how I'm going to work with them. And, today I'm going to meet Lisa at the Hamburg Fairgrounds for the Stamp, Scrap and Art Tour for some CHATTING AND SHOPPING! Fun! Fun! Fun!
On to the card which used the Witch with Broom from I Brake for Stamps. She is a cutie at under $3.00!!! And don't forget that using "SAVE10Cheryl" gets you 10% off your whole order! I colored her with copics, but her dress AND apron are both large enough to do some awesome paper piecing with her.
I used paper from Basic Grey's Halloween 6 x 6 pad from last year. I {{heart}} them!! My card is 5.5" tall x 4.5" wide-a little larger. Of course she has sparkle here and there and there is glaze pen on her pearly white tooth!

I used cool greys on her apron-starting with c1 and adding color until I had the darkness I wanted. I went back and blended with c1 and c00.
The purples are V01, V06 and V09, blended with V0000
Her lovely skin is G20 and G21, blended together with G20.
Thanks for coming by today and have a wonderful summer Saturday!!
Hugs, Cheryl
Okay, just one more plug:It's the last day to vote for the Buffalo Stampers (or any other team) over at Paperworks Co blog
and, thanks!

Happy New Baby!

Hi! I needed a couple of New Baby cards for some school friends and this pony from Magnolia-licious fit the bill perfectly!! Our school secretary had a new baby girl on August 9 and won't be back to school for awhile. Well, she won't be back to work, but I'll bet she'll bring the baby in for us to see!
I'm so sorry, I don't know the image name or number and cannot find it right now in the store. ETA: Bernet found out for me that the image is called Cuddly Horse. Thanks, Bernet!!
As always, if you email Diana about an image she will help you out to the best of her ability! She's great that way! And, if anyone can give me information I will add it to my blog post.
COLORING NOTES
I didn't keep the markers out that I used so I didn't get them recorded (So Sorry!), but just a note on light colors. The blender can make your colors bleed at times.
I often use the colors with four zeros for blending between my shades to eliminate any lines.
For example, I use R81 and R83-to get them to blend together I would use R000 or R0000.
that's how I did this card. I know it looks white, but the whole image is really colored in R0000 first and then I began adding the other pinks near the shaded edges a little at a time. While that ink is still wet I use my Roooo to blend the colors into one another.
To tone down the pink (to better match the shabby chic paper) I added some E42 in ares and then blended again with R0000.
I appreciate that you took the time to visit!
Thank you! Hope you have an awesome day!
Cheryl

We have just a couple of days to "get out the vote" for our TEAM Projects over at Paperworks Co.
Thank you to everyone who voted! If you still want to, please go HERE and look for the Buffalo Stampers. We'd sure appreciate it!
(sorry about the goofy look of my blog, I've really messed it up now!)

Embrace your birthday!

Hi! Time to get a post done! I've been busy working at school to get my TWO rooms ready! Yep, one in each building and driving between the two every day! Oh, boy! This is the card that was my entry for the Sketch challenge on the Paperworks Co. Team challenge last week. It had to be a shape card that followed the sketch. I started with a 5.5" square card and then made a paper pattern to cut the shape somewhat symmetrically. Then I carried on with the sketch using this cute Paperworks image.
The papers are from Bo Bunny and are my favs this summer. I have another card to show you soon that I made for my niece's birthday earlier this month.

Maybe you can help Team Buffalo Stampers! Voting for the projects in the challenge is going on all week over at PAPERWORKS CO. It's very easy to do and you get to vote for your top three in each of the four categories. You don't have to vote for us, but if you do, we'd sure appreciate it! (Sorry I'm repeating, I did mention this in my last post , and I think many of you went over and voted.) THANK YOU !! for all the votes!

Just a little crafting time and I'm off to my schools to work again for the day! Back tomorrow!
Have a wonderful day!!

Sunning Sadie

Hello and good morning! Well, here it is morning! I'm still taken with the Humorous Seniors line at I Brake for Stamps and here is Sunning Sadie! Sadie is still at the beach and not thinking about returning to school like many of us! Maybe she's retired! Ahhhh...... someday!
I started with Sadie's bathing suit, knowing she would wear a dark colored one! Am I right? But then, it seemed she might have bright accessories so I went for bright pink and orange. My papers are from Stampin' Up and Basic Grey. If you order from I Brake for STamps you can use the code SAVE10CHERYL to get 10% off your order!
There is Sakura glaze pen on her glass and glasses and stickles on her umbrella. I used copics to color her, as I'm sure you guessed!
skin: E000, E11, E00 and R30
Suit C1, C5 and C7, with a touch of C9
Chair RV10, RV14 and RV17
Umbrella YR12, YR15 and YR18
Sand E42, E35
around Sadie BG0000 and BG10
Before I go, I do have a favor to ask a favor. My friends (Tracy, Lisa and Debbie) and I got together for the Paperworks Company team challenge last week. We each had to make a project to fit a given challenge. THIS WEEK you can vote and we would LOVE YOUR VOTES! Please check the blog for voting-look for team Buffalo Stampers, that's us! Once you get to the voting you get 3 votes in each category, it's easy to do.
To search for the gallery on SCS you can use PWCO, but you have to vote on the blog. We'd sure appreciate your help. I'll post my card on my blog in a day or two. Voting goes on until August 28.
Cheers to Sadie and to ALL of you! Have a great day!

Mo's project of the month BLOG HOP!

Hello and welcome!! Thanks for so many wonderful comments on my last Magnolia card! Mwah!
Today is Mo's Dream Team blog hop and I'm so glad you've stopped by! The challenge is to use nestabilites or punches in your project! Easy to do! You should have come here from Liza's wonderful blog. Our host and first Hop Stop is the delightful Rosette.

I almost always use a nestability shape for my focal image, so this time I pulled one out that hasn't seen much use. I also decided to make an easel card. They're fun, easy and I hadn't done one in awhile. The image is Kai at Halloween. There is another one with him dressed as a pirate and the winter Kai is adorable too so I've linked the whole search page for "Kai" for you.

Kai is colored with copics. I've started to add another color to skin for better blending so now I'm using E000, E11, E01 and R30.
His cat costume is all the odd numbered Cs (cool Greys)
the pumpkin is YR12, YR15 and YR18
I didn't want to use greys around the image as I often do because of all the grey already in his costume so I use Violets-V0000, V01 and a touch of V06 in the darkest shadows. My pics don't show the depth of color around him as well as I'd like.
Anyway, it was so much fun to color my first Halloween image of the season and I hope you like it, too.
Thanks a bunch! Have a superior day!
Cheryl

Yee Haw! It's a Birthday Blog Hop!

Hello! Lots of pics today, so I'll try not to chat too much! Gotta say a few things, though! Welcome, or should I say, HOWDY, Ya'll! If you've come from Sharon's beautiful blog you have reached the final stop, ME! If yor're started here, you may want to head on over to the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog to get the order from beginning to end so you don't miss a thing! Our birthday celebration challenge is in honor of our queen, Diana! Sh'es "Way out West" in Canada! The challenge is to alter a gift item and make a card to go with it. I altered a small, clear favor box from emma's paperie. I used images from Magnolia-licious. The newest collection is in stock! This is Cowgirl Tilda (#229) and Cactus (#431). I stamped, colored and used THREE of the cactus images to tie my gift altogether!
I used Wanted Paper from Cosmo Cricket. I just wrapped my gift box. That was challenge enough! Because of the angled sides I had to take tucks in the paper to make it fit (think of when you learned to sew darts in high school home ec class!)
I had the best time making the card, as usual! It's my favorite thing! With the paper chosen I knew I wanted to use aqua with browns. But the aqua is almost a sage green so some blending of Blue greens and greens made the colors on her outfit exactly what I wanted! In the corner is a new brad from the SU catalog! Love it (a deal at 4.95 for a box of them!). I made sort of a conch with it using twill ribbon and twine.

I colored another face and set of hands and mounted them on top of the base image. Debbie at Buffalo Stamps and stuff does this in her stamping and I wanted to give it a try. Very 3D! The cactus is also cut out and made 3D.

I don't know if Tilda can lasso a calf, but I'm pretty sure she can rope that cactus! And in the box? Trail mix, of course!

The inside (still needs a birthday message!) More of that gorgeous paper!
Well, if you're inspired and want to do a little shopping you can head over to the Magnolia-licious store. We hope you'll join in the challenge and link your own birthday card and altered gift item to the Magnolia-licious Highlites blog!
Thanks so much for ridin' on by today!
Cheryl
copic used:
E000, E11, E01 and R30 skin
BG10, BG72, G20 and G21 for the turquoise (just G20 and G21 for the cactus)
E31, E35, E25, E99 and E29 for browns on clothes and boots, E08 for her tie
Y21 and some of the browns for hair
Y21 and YR24 for rope

We're getting Reflective

Hello friends!
It is the 15th so time for another Copic Creations Challenge (number 33)! Please visit the blog for all the details and to see the great samples made by Mary's team. Our challenge (and yours) is to color an image with copics and color a reflected image. The teams interpretations are very different so the challenge is more open than you might first think. My stamp is from Rubbernecker. Who doesn't love the scenes that Kittie747 makes?! When she made one with this sailboat I HAD to have it! It hasn't seen ink very often, but was perfect for making a reflected image.
Knowing I wanted to show a reflection, I stamped the image high up on white Neenah classic paper. I colored the image in my normal way. I'm so sorry but I don't have the colors written down for this one. Then I used my cloud template for the sky. Finally, I had to get started on the reflection.
I used the links to Maryanne's tutorial on reflections that Mary had sent us. I'm sure they're linked in the Copic Creatins Blog post. Maryanne tells how to make a blurry image below for the reflection. I did that and then went over the 'water' with by blues, going right over my images as well. Finally, I did some blurry outlines in black marker.
I wasn't crazy about it so I added the ribbon to mask it a bit! After I went away from the card awhile and came back to it, I didn't think it was too bad! :)
Hope you like it and will join in the challenge! There is a great prize being given by Suzanne Dean! You'll want to check it out!
Have a great day!
Hugs, Cheryl

I Cook Two at a Time!

Good morning! I want to show you another I Brake for Stamps card today! As I mentioned before I love these Seniors camping (see below on how to save $ on your order)! This is how my family will look come September when we go on our Family Camping Weekend!
Of course, I cook my marshmallows two at a time! I had much of the image colored and the paper decided upon, but woke up Wednesday morning with this embellishment idea. I have seen Markie's Mom use real sticks and have seen marshmallows made with square punch outs, sooo.... I put them together!
My coloring is completely with copics and there is just a little spica pen on the (pop) cans and the fire. I don't have any square punches so I used a spellbinders die to cut my squares. Then I taped them to a piece of paper to use as a handle so I could put them into my small corner rounder for uniform corners. If you like this one you may love the whole Humorous Seniors line!
I think it's great that you can buy them individually or as a set! AND don't forget with my code SAVE10CHERYL you can get 10% off your order!
I used many markers for the image and didn't save the colors. sorry! I can tell you that the tent is YG91, 93 and 95.
The browns are E42, E35, E25 and E29
Blues are B41 for the base and then I don't remember the rest
Thanks so much for looking at my card today!
Have a great summer day!

Tilda at the Beach!

Hi! I've had this masked card in my mind for awhile! Well, probably since I got the beach background, like I said, AWHILE! (Please read below for the winner of the La La Land stamp) I masked the three stamps. First, Tilda, then the bridge deck and, finally, the beach scene. I think it looks like a photo you might find in Tilda's summer 2010 scrapbook! Thinking on it after, I wish I would have stamped another Tilda to cut out and place on top, but since I haven't masked in some time I went with that. My stamps are all from Magnolia-licious. they are #614 (ocean background, #526 (bridge deck) and I don't know the number for Tilda. She seems to be out of stock right now. Please check with Diana on this. #245 Tilda in Swimsuit would work very nicely, too!
You may think a beach would never work this way, with sand and then water (AND a pier, no less!), but there is a beautiful beach in Ogunquit, Maine that is just like this. It's sort of a huge sandbar beach. All I did was add a little black pen and some dots on the bottom sandy edge. I'm okay with it! Hope you like, too!
Well, I'm itching to get going on some fall cards, so those will be on their way soon. First, we (the Magnolia-licious DT) have a VERY special Blog Hop for you on Monday, Aug. 16!
Now, I would like to share my winner of the stamp from LaLa land chosen from the comments on THIS POST. There were 37 comments, thank you!!
The winner is: comment number 18-Jenny V! congratulations, Jenny! Please contact me at drowley6@stny.rr.com as soon as you get a chance! Thanks again, everyone!
Enjoy the day! Cheryl

You're a Star!

Hello and Happy Monday! Still not back at work so I can say that! I have postponed the card and box I made for my niece (Happy birthday, Amber!) and decided I needed to show a Mo's Digital Pencil image instead. This is Gregory Tap dancing, and, oh my goodness, isn't he cute! This card came together in my mind as soon as I got my Stampin' Up order with this new designer paper called Elegant Soiree, Baja Breeze and Soft Suede-YUM!! My friend, Lisa Kind, gave me this EK success star edge punch as a birthday gift last week. She used it on a card recently and I loved it! I feel as happy as Gregory to own this punch now. (Note to self: Look for the corner star punch now!) She gave me the punch in a wonderful box with a matching card! Scroll down her blog and you will see it! Thank you, Lisa!!

Close up of Gregory!
I used BG10 and BG72 for his shirt and hatband.
E000, E11 and R30 for his skin
Y21, E99, E35 for his hair
E42, E43, E25 and just a touch of E28 for his pants, hat and bow tie.
Thanks for visiting today! Off to get some other stuff done now and I need to take a walk on this beautiful morning!
Hope your day is beautiful as well!

Flying High!

I'm so sorry I've been absent these last few days! I've been busy getting cards/gifts ready for the mail and not stopped to post until now! Also, yesterday was my birthday and I had to celebrate, right!? Thanks to DH and my sisters and niece and nephew for an excellent day! This card and gift card holder were made for one of our nephews (we have 6). His birthday was August 5. I tried to keep the Snoopy a bit masculine for him, but the gift card inside the holder is for he and his wife. Her birthday was at the end of July. The Snoopy stamp is from Stampabilities and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. And that little notebook page is also from PTI. It was so fun to make! You'll be seeing more!

Here's the set together. I probably should have stamped a "happy birthday" on the lines on the front! Oh, Well!
Thanks for coming by today. I will show you the card and "wallet"I made for my niece, whose birthday happens to be tomorrow, Aug. 9 tomorrow.
Of course I also have Magnolias (new stamps in the house!), Mo's designs AND I Brake for Stamps things to get ready for this week!
Today is another beautiful day so I think some deck/reading time is in order!
Have a wonderful day!

Let it Rain!

Hello stampin' and craftin' friends! I got an email from my blog candy winner very quickly yesterday :)
It's Jennifer from Perth, Australia! Thanks for getting in touch, Jennifer! Today, I have a little card that I made with an image from I Brake for Stamps, Mouse and Umbrella.
I love all his cuteness!

I used Bo bunny double dot and My Mind's Eye papers with Poppy red and Berry Sorbet from Papertrey Ink. He is colored with copic markers as follows:
E42, E43 and E57 for the mouse with E30 on his cheeks and ears.
YG01, YG21, YG25 and YG17 for the umbrella
R29 for umbrella handle and BG0000 around the image. YG93 for the grass
Someone mentioned my backgrounds the other day.
I emboss my nestability after cutting to make the edge deeper. then with it still in the die I use a 1" stencil brush to lay color in on the edges. I find it easier to keep the color smoother this way. I always ruin it when I try to use a sponge! I swirl the brush on my ink pad, swirl it a little on scrap paper and then on the edge of my die/paper. Adirondack ink pads are so juicy that they always give the most vibrant colors, but I often use my PTI or SU pads, too. You can blend colors to get just what you want as well. I have a brush for each; brown, yellow, blue and red.
Hope this helps!
Remember if you order from I Brake for Stamps you can use the code SAVE10CHERYL for a 10% discount on your order.
Thanks for dropping by! Wishing you just enough rain for your flowers to grow!

Magnolia-licious August challenge! (and the winner is...)

Good morning! Our challenge this month is a T Slide card and is brought to us by Mindy! Here is the tutorial link on SCS-T Slide Card. I recommend watching the video so you can see how it goes together. The cutting and score lines are a little tricky on the written tutorial.
Another thing to be careful of is where you put the focal image and the end (and the size of it). I had to take mine apart because I wanted it centered. It can't be centered because the card won't open fully unless the edge is on the score line of the dp. If you want it centered, make the focal piece about 3.5" wide.
The Pier Fence with Lifebuoy (#615) and (#122) Edwin w/ binoculars and (#413) Pelican are available for Pre Order from Bon Voyage Collection, coming soon!

You can see here that the inside says "Ahoy!"

Since I took so many pictures, I won't prattle on today! We hope you will join us during the month of August and try this challenge. One lucky participant will will your choice of TWO Magnolia images from Magnolia-licious!
NOW FOR MY BLOG CANDY! RANDOM.ORG HAS CHOSEN COMMENT NUMBER 16 AS THE WINNER!
JENNIFER, THAT'S YOU! PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH YOUR ADDRESS AT
drowley6@stny.rr.com as soon as you can!
If I don't hear from Jennifer by Wednesday, i will choose another winner! Thanks to ALL for the nice comments!
have a great day! Cheryl

Copic Creations challenge 32!

Welcome! We are back with a new CC Challenge! You can find all the details on our BLOG HERE, but I can just tell you that it's ALL ABOUT READING!! I got my love of reading from my mom. She read to us and when I was a child she joined a book club for me. I loved when those books came in the mail and I still have some of them today! As a teacher, I can't count the number of times I've said to parents, "The MOST important thing you can do at home to help your child is to READ TO THEM!" (And,as an aunt who loved reading to nieces and nephews, IT'S FUN!) The copic creations team has really rocked this challenge! Please check the blog for ALL the projects!
'NUFF SAID! Mary G put us onto this children's book illustrator who promotes reading AND puts FREE pictures to color on the internet! These are the images we used to make our reading themed projects!! So cool!

I used a Criss Cross card to hold my bookmark. The bookmark is the same as one of the "luggage" tags I bought at Office Max. In fact, there's one sewed inside to make the bookmark extra sturdy. The card stock is Apricot and the dp is from a DCWV pack-Raspberry, I think. The swirls are from a PTI set. The sentiment is from SU, and the Almost Square Box is from HERE.

On my BookWorm I used E42, 43, E25 (glasses), R30, R21, R22, Y35, Y15, YR16, W1, W3, and W5. I also used some stitching and, of course, stickles for sparkle!
Thanks for coming by!
I will have my Magnolia Monthly challenge (of the month) card tomorrow. You can read the details on the challenge given to us by Mindy RIGHT HERE.
Along with my card I will have my Blog Candy winner! Please come back tomorrow!
Wishing you a joyful day-make time for a little reading, if you can!
Cheryl
