House Mouse Monday...

on Friday! Made this card earlier in the week after seeing the House Mouse Monday sketch challenge! It was fun and I love all the layers!
Notice there are no embellishments! I used red paper that was sponged with distress ink as my "ribbon"
I think I will use this as a male birthday card and finish the inside with one of my Hoppy Birthday sentiments!

Thanks for visiting! Please come back tomorrow because it's time again for a Copic Creations challenge!

And I would love (if you haven't done so already!) for you to scroll down to Monday's Christmas Magnolia card and enter to win my blog candy! time is running out-drawing on Sunday morning (ET).
Thanks!
Have a great day!

Snoopy on the Go!

I love vehicle images and this is my new favorite (until the next one!) It's made by Stampabilities. I'll keep my post short today as I was late for my Inservice training yesterday!
My card base is PTI's Ripe Avocado. The dotted paper is from Fancy Pants All Fall, the plaid is Cosmo Cricket Early Bird. I hadn't used one of these round paper clips (that I had to have 3 boxes of!) in ages! I think it's perfect for this. There is silver spica on Snoopy's car that is probably hard to see-including a silver stripe down the side! And then the brads are metal too! Who cares that they aren't the same kind of metal, it's a theme!

Copic colors used are as follows:
BG11, BG72, BG72, BG78 and BG0000 for blending
E32, E35 and E38 fr Woodstock
Various shades of cool and warm gray for the tires!

Thanks for visiting today!
I would love if you scrolled down to Monday's post and entered a comment for my blog candy! Winner to be chosen on Sunday August 2.
Thanks to all of you who have left comments! Love them ALL!!

Angel's Landing-Let's Party!

Reminder: Blog candy on Monday's post! ends on Sunday, Aug. 2

Hello and Happy Wednesday! It's my regular Wednesday blog post for Angel's Landing digital images! This week Judi asked us to make something that could be used for a party! I made this little gable box which could be for a small gift or gift card, but could also be used to put little party favors in. The card, which is 4 1/4 " square is simple enough to make as invitations or it could be the birthday card with your gift. I'm loving the bright, primary colors with my brown bear and I think this could be for a boy or a girl. Do parents still have Teddy Bear Picnics to go with the book, " The Teddy's Bear's Picnic? Each guest brings their own teddy bear or stuffed animal for an outside party. This would be perfect for that type of party.

Okay, a few links:

store. The link to her blog is there, too. Be sure to check out the fabulous creations of the rest of the design team!

The Gable box directions are on Splitcoast Stampers under resources. Here are the directions, but you can also look there for tons of ideas on these little boxes that take one sheet of card stock.

Now, did you notice the textured look to Judi's adorable bear (from Mini Bears and Birds). It's an easy technique we learned from Marianne at our Copic Training class in March.

She calls it "Nasty Rag". I looked for her directions on her blog I Like Markers, but couldn't find it. You're stuck with me! She takes a rag (hers was nasty, mine was clean!) and a refill bottle of blender solution. I used a white face cloth from a package I got at WalMart. Color your image the way you normally would. Then put some of the blender solution on your rag and tap it on your image. The solution works fairly quickly to remove some of the ink. The terry cloth loops of the face cloth work really well in leaving this mottled, textured appearance. go lightly at first until you see what it is going to look like. That's it! Easy!

I used Poppy Red paper, an itty bitty star background from an old SU set and burgundy ink to dress up the top part. My bear is raised on dimensionals.

I guess I've gone on long enough! Thanks for visiting today. If you haven't left a comment for the blog candy I posted on Monday, I hope you will!

Have a terrific day!

Lobster, photos and don't forget!

Hi all! I had to be at work today and for the next 3 days after so am scheduling some posts (I hope!) My pictures aren't great, but this is a clear card that I made to send to the people who own the motel where we stay in Maine. We've gone back to the same place for seven years now and just love it there.
(This card also covers a couple of challenges this week-SCS Dare to Get Dirty had a clear card challenge over the weekend and High Hopes challenge this week is to use sparkle and shine on a card! I covered both sparkle and shine because you can see the sparkle on the lobster, but I also made his black rubber boots shine! (Remember I told you we love lobster? I had nine on our vacation!)
The inside of the card:

Here are a few pictures of the many I took from our trip! I always take lots of scenery! I hate having my picture taken so we end a trip with only one or two of us.
This is the sunrise at the beach where we stay
(left)

Below is the most beautiful Portland Head Light just south of Portland, ME and only a 20 minute drive from where we stay. It's gorgeous!

And this is a picture of the pier that is about a half mile beach walk from us. There is a restaurant at the end and lots of little shops as you walk out.

That's it for today, except for the
Don't forget! And that is
Don't forget to see yesterday's post and leave a comment to enter to win my blog candy for 50,000 hits!
You only have to comment, no other requirements!
I hope you have a good day!
thanks for visiting!

Angel's Landing Cover Up!

Hi all! I'm sorry I'm late with my Angel's Landing Post! And I'm so glad you stopped by!
Judi asked us to make a cover for something and I chose a small notepad. They come in a package of three and at our Walmart they are only about $1.50. They make the cutest little gifts for friends! My husband needs one of these by the phone! If he checks messages he sometimes forgets to tell me I had a message! Now he has to write it down! Anyway, my base is Barely Banana and I put just the front through the Paisley cuttlebug folder and then sponged with Distress ink in Tea dye to really show the pattern. For the topper I used a piece of one of the borders from Angel's Landing Seasonal Borders and the small bear is from Mini Bears and Birds! I've linked the shopping page so you can take a look!
It goes without saying that the bear is colored with my copic markers and then cut out with an oval Nestability layered on scalloped Nestabilities. I add some stickles to his feather pen for sparkle.
Please be sure to check Judi's Angel's Landing blog to see some fabulous "Cover Ups" from the rest of the design team.
(Design team links are also on my sidebar).
Thanks for stopping in!

Lazy Summer Lemonade

Good morning! With just a few hits until I reach 50,000 I wanted to post a new card today!
Here it is! Sorry about the bad picture. I have been taking them on my front porch and it is raining today so it's quite dark and my bench is wet. The card has better color IRL! This is Loves Me Tilda from the Lazy Summer Days collection. I got mine in my Summer Kit from Magnolia Sweden, but it's not too late to get one! Diana has her (and the rest of the collection) up for preorder right now! Check them out at Magnolia-licious. She has the best prices and if you click her link to join our Yahoo group there are more discounts and surprises!

I used the Spellbinder's Dahlia die cut in my cuttlebug for the background pieces and I'm sure you recognize Basic Grey's Lemonade paper! It was made for these images! What looks like violet in my photos is actually SU's Pomegranate (retired). By the way, this card is my favorite size: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4 inches. Fits regular A2 envelope.
The other day I mentioned Edwin having patches on his jeans to match his shirt. Another thing I love when I color these kids is matching the tennis shoes (sneakers!) to their outfits!
Thanks for visiting today! I really appreciate it! I'll post a few pictures of vacation soon, but something there is no photo of is me eating the 9 lobsters I ate last week-one or two each day! Gosh, I love Maine!
Rain or shine, I wish you a bright, summer day!

Tilda celebrating with ice cream!

Don't we celebrate everything with ice cream, especially in the summer!?
Well, We are celebrating being back home! Yeah! It took us 9 and1/2 hours to get home yesterday, a very respectable time! Dave is such a good driver, but there are some bad ones out there (usually on their cell phones!) and I am so grateful to get to our destination and back home safely! We had a wonderful week away! Thank you for the amazing comments while I was gone and for your good wishes! I began coloring this little Tilda on our trip and she was perfect for today's Featured Stamper challenge on SCS! FS128 is minnidr and the card I cased is HERE!
Diane has much talent!

I didn't use any embellishments so I really poured on the Stickles glitter glue for her sparkly top! It's very cool today, so her ice cream certainly won't melt on it! BRrrr!

The ice cream print paper is by American Crafts, Backyard collection as is the green gingham behind the chocolate paper.

I will try to do better with keeping track of colors and with that being said here is my list for this card:

YG11,YG13, YG17, G14, YG0000

E000, E01, E93,Y21, E33, E35, E17,

BG11, BG13

R30, R32, R43, R24

Thank you so much again for a terrific Edwin Blog hop!! I can't tell you how thrilled I was with all the comments! YOU are too kind!!

I will reach 50,000 hits VERY soon and after I catch up on laundry I intend to start working on my giveaway package!

Haunting Tilda

Well, you've heard of Waltzing Matilda, this is Haunting Tilda! I called her that because she is going to haunt me the whole time we are away! I'm posting this with only three hours until we leave and I am not packed! I am so pleased with the coloring (YILM) and the Pink Paislee papers that I didn't want to rush the embellishments so they are scattered around her in my photo!
She will need ribbon, buttons, flowers and, of course, SPARKLE!!

So this post is To Be Continued....(insert laugh like
Vincent Price here!)
Thanks for visiting

I've been so into the bright, summery and citrusy colors lately! I hope you can see the sea sparkle and the warm sun shining on the palm trees!

Please visit next week as I have lots to get scheduled today! there is a new release from Angel's Landing, a Copic Creations challenge that you won't want to miss (I've seen some of the cards that will be posted! WOW!), AND a Magnolia-licious blog hop!!
Besides that I HOPE to get a Magnolia Halloween card done today for a post on another day!
I'd better get busy!

Wallaby Wednesday!

Good morning! Judi asked us to make a different kind of card from the usual. I decided on this Criss Cross pocket card. The tutorial is on SCS under resources. The list comes up in Alphabetical order. Just clikc and create! I've used the Wallaby from Judi's Aussie Animals download. They are all really sweet animals! I realized AFTER I finished mine how appropriate is was to use a pocket card for the Wallaby since they have a pouch, too! I'm not sure if they hop though and the sentiment on the back of my card insert says, "Hoppy Birthday!" (Okay, this is where I admit that I thought it was a baby kangaroo!) Judi has the images labeled in your download, I just didn't read!

Anyway this little guy was colored with my copic markers. The flowers are primas and the paper is SU's Purely Pomegranate and Pumpkin Pie-two favorites of mine lately!! I created the color behind the wallaby with the method I showed materials for in yesterday's post.

Here are a couple more views of him. Please click on the Angel's Landing link on my right sidebar to see the creations made by the other designers.
I'm so sorry, once again, I have made a card and misplaced the sticky note with the colors listed.
So I am going to guess a bit here:
E31, E35, E25, E93 (pink color), and E51 andYR00. I think that's pretty close.
Don't forget to check the Angel's Landing blog! New releases coming next week!
Have a great day! I'm off to meet my friend Lisa for some craft shopping!

Air and Water!

I think Magnolia images are like air and water to me! I couldn't wait to stamp and color this little cutie AND my new Basic Grey paper arrived! How lucky can a girl get!? I got so excited about the coloring and the papers that when I finished the card, I realized I had inadvertently used the Magnolia-licious July sketch again! It is a good one! And I can't seem to help focusing on the color Purely Pomegranate either! I think I'm in a rut! Oh well, I like the card that resulted so I'll deal with that tomorrow!

I am so proud to say that my sister (the "older" one!) made me this flower and many others! She is good! My part was to print out the directions that Nicole Heady had posted on her blog several weeks ago! Isn't it great?!? I'll tell her you said so! ETA: here is the link to Nicole's directions for these flowers- Capture the Moment, May 31,
2009
Sometimes people ask me about how I do my backgrounds behind the image. Here's a picture of my supplies. I cut the nestability shape from white, then sometimes I emboss it so it really stays in the die. Then I ink up one of my stencil brushes and scrub it a little on scrap paper (that's the paper you see in the picture, sometimes it gets really pretty!)
Then I brush from the edges of the nestability. I repeat until I have the depth of color that I want. I learned this at the Stamp and Scrap show in Buffalo last year. she used Adirondack inks so I do too. I have used SU, but the Adirondack are so color intensive that it takes less time for a vibrant color. the two ovals in the picture are ones I did today while trying to decide on a background for Tilda. I'll put them aside to use another time.

So, thanks for visiting! So sorry if the card seems like a repeat. I'll try to get some variety going!
Maybe you would like to participate in the July sketch challenge? See the post below, please.
There is still some time to participate in the Brunette Hair challenge from the Copic Creations Challenge-the prize is a Scor'Pal!!
See my post from June 30 or the link on my sidebar!
Tomorrow is Angel's Landing day and I'm hopping with excitement to show you my card!
Have a great day! Thanks for all the nice, nice comments!
Have a great day! Cheryl
ETA:
Here are the copic colors I used to color
RV10, RV06, RV17, RV19, V12, V04, V06, YG21, YG01, YG05, BG11, BG13, BG18 and her skin is E000, Eoq and E93 for the cheeks.

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Not our weather, but Jacque's sketch! Thanks, Jacque it is terrific and fun to work with! This is the Magnolia-licious sketch for July. I couldn't seem to get the sketch transferred here, but I hope you'll check it out on the Magnolia-licious Highlites Blog with the other designers creations!
I had to work the sketch a little bit to fit the large Magnolia row boat! And I used one instead of three embellishments in the upper right. My stamps are all from Diana at Magnolia-licious! She has great prices and special sales and surprises in your package if you belong to our Magnolia-lcious Yahoo group. The link to join is on the store site. Please use her search box to find stamps and if you have any trouble email her (or me!) and we'll help. Besides the rowboat, the sun, sentiment and, of course, the Tilda are from Diana's store.

I have written the colors down for this one and will give them below.
If you own some copics there is help out there for colors to put together. I've printed out Nicole Heady's color matches for her colors (she has them in a great format-doesn't she think of everything!?). BUT, I have not used any of her paper colors for this card. In other words, her copic matches are just great to use to match SU (or any other) colors! Thanks, Nicole!
Here's a link to what I'm talking about:
Papertrey Copic color matches. See the blue rectangle? click on that to get her chart ready for printing!
Anyway, here are the colors I used
skin E000, E01 and E93
BG10, BG11, BG18
RV10, RV04, RV17, RV19,
Y35, Y38, YR16
E55, E57 E59
W1, and W3
See what I mean? I used her colors as a starting point and changed where I needed.
My dp is Basic Grey, Lime Rickey (specifically-Shirley Temple) and my beloved Bo Bunny double dots with SU Pumpkin and Pomegranate and Black. My images are stamped on Papertrey white select. My sentiment is brushed with my 1" stencil brush in pumpkin and pomegranate.
Well, this may not be a patriotic colored card, but I am one grateful American today! God Bless America! Happy 4th of July to us all!
Have a great day!
Cheryl
