MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS DT MONTHLY CHALLENGE!!

Hello friends and welcome to March!!  Hard to believe, isn't it?  We all now spring is coming soon so we are celebrating that flowers will be "popping up" very soon!! Our dear Sharon has challenged us to have something that moves on our cards!  You can check out our whole collection of DT work at the Mag Highlites Blog today!  And you can find out how you can enter for a chance to win stamps!!
I used directions on Splitcoast stampers (in the resources section) to make a 'surprise pop up card'.  You pull up on the string attached to a tag on the tops and the image panel comes up revealing a hidden area!  I love, love this kind of card!  I have made them several times~they are not hard and you get a really nice card!  This time I made my card square (5" x 5").  I started by cutting my card base that size and then made decisions on how large I wanted my image and secret compartment to be.  I used my Fiskars little cutter to make my cuts in the panel.
Here's where you can see the tag that pulls up.  You can also put a sentiment or image on this piece.  I didn't because I don't know what I want there!
I love how there are flowers next to Tilda and her bunny and when the card is 'closed' the flowers combine into one arrangement. This was a little tricky, but I managed!  the fence is a Papertrey Ink die. then I used some Martha Stewart punches for the flowers and leaves on the fence.  I also used an MS grass punch. My paper is from Echo park (dotted) and (once again) from My Mind's Eye-howdy doody. I used pool party and baja breeze cardstock.  tilda is colored with my copics.  My blues are the usual BG10, 72 and blender.  My reds are R20, 22 and 24 for a coral color.
Well, I hope you like what I had to show you today! I loved making it!!
Have an excellent day and month!!
Hugs, Cheryl

Contest Kick -Off!!

Have you seen the new out there? Diana is having an Easter-Spring Extravaganza Contest with REALLY BIG prizes!! You have lots of time to create up to THREE projects for entry to win! Please visit the link above on our Design Team blog for all the details!Despite the fact that we could get up to 6 inches of snow today I am SO into spring papercrafting projects! ETA: I don't mean to whine about a little snow. I'm so sorry for the people in Japan and am hoping and praying for those in Hawaii and in the Pacific. I've used an image from the few images that were released in the Butterfly Dreams collection. This is #252 TILDA WITH HANGING RABBIT. I do love bunnies and have for many, many years! I have a stuffed one that I got for Easter as a child. The more realistic looking ones are my favorites! I like the white ones but am more partial to the brown or multicolored ones so I had to color Tilda's bunny!
I just wish I'd finished my card in time to enter! This week looks like another great sketch!
My paper is from Stampin' Up-Springtime from the current mini catalog. I love that it has a 'kraft' color to it, called Crumb cake by SU. My die cut pieces are from some February releases by Papertrey Ink.
I'm pretty happy with this card except for her hair. I just could not get it the way I wanted! Anybody else have trouble with get the hair consistently right? I think I need to go back to my basic colors and retrain myself!
Anyway, thanks for visiting! I'm so glad you did and don't forget to check out Diana's contest!! You'll be glad you did!
Have a wonderful day!!

Spring Hop-Mini Style!

Hello! The Magnolia-licious team is happy to be back with our monthly blog Hop! Welcome! You are hopping through Spring projects made with Magnolia Minis! If you've come from the blog of the fabulous Barb Hardeman, you are doin'great! You can also go to the Mag Highlites blog for all the details!

This fun little box is a gable box made with an 8.5" x 11" sheet of cardstock! here is the link to the directions on SPLITCOAST
I always use my Scor-Pal and Scor-tape to score and adhere boxes! The new Scor-Pal has 1/4" score grooves!

Here is the LINK to the whole collection of Mini magnolias but I used the following stamps:
#3027 CHICKEN TILDA, #399 BUNNY TILDA, #517 MINI BENCH, #657 SPRING TREE

My project bases are Pale Plum from SU. To create the scene, I stamped the spring tree on xpress it card stock. On another piece I stamped bunny tilda. Then I masked her and stamped the bench. I cut the bunny and bench out as one piece and adhered it to my tree scene. I used a craft knife to cut the 'holes' in the bench and then my Cutterbee scissors as usual to cut the image out.

I took a lot of pics because I just couldn't seem to get a good one!
And now, dear friends, please hop along to the very talented Suzanne Dean's blog!
I know she has something wonderful to show you!
Huge appreciation that you came by today!

Hi! Thanks for visiting and thanks for all the visits and comments yesterday as we had our Magnolia-licious Blog Hop~
I said I could imagine the Two Tulips card that I did in turquoise last week in other colors. Well, here it is in peach!
I used Apricot Appeal card stock and ink for the card base. I colored the tulips in the same greens; G20, G40, G24 and the peaches are YR21, YR12 and YR15.
Here's the link to the other card if you want to read a few more details:
Next up Red? Yellow? who knows!
I'm off to have some fun with the girls today-shopping at Buffalo Stamps and Stuff! Yeah!
This card is to give Lisa-she had a birthday yesterday and turned a nice round number!
Have a great day! Cheryl

Magnolia meets Papertrey Ink! (AND Scor-tape!)

Good morning! By going to my craft room yesterday I did find a little Mojo to work with! Then I didn't want to stop! Now it's Monday and back to work!
This card has something I saw on a PTI designer's blog awhile back-see the ribbon pieces that Tilda is sitting on? That's it!
I took some white scrap cardstock (4.25 x 5.5 inches) and covered it with my WIDE scor-tape. It only took three strips to cover it. Then I laid peeled off the paper to reveal the sticky side and and laid my ribbon pieces onto it. I cut off a peice about 1.25 inches and layered it on Hawaiin Shores card stock. AND I have more left to work with another day! Makes me happy!
What do you think?
The rest of the card is pretty simple and this Tilda is soooo sweet! She is Tilda with 3 Flowers (#3028) available at MAGNOLIA-LICIOUS AND you can put scor-tape in the search box, see all the sizes and order that, too! GOD BLESS DIANA!
She's colored in copics:
skin E000. E11 and R20
flowers R000 and R20
Dress BG11, BG32 and BG15
Shoes and hair E30, E42, E25 and E29
stems/leaf 20, G24
Thanks for visiting today! Wishing you a productive Monday!

One more bunny!

How did Easter come and go so quickly?! I'm not ready! I had colored this extra bunny when I posted my other card with her. I just HAD to use her with my new Kioshi papers! They are just perfect! I made this card 31/2" x 6". It's a very fun size! The base is Barely Banana, then Orchid from SU. The ribbon is from Papertrey Ink as is the button. Pretty straight forward card really. I think it would make an adorable thank you to my sister who hosted us for Easter dinner-THAT IS IF I could stand to let her go!! LOL!
Speaking of that: I'd like to take an informal poll; Would anyone buy my cards if I open an ETSY SHOP? I do complete the insides, but not really fancy. I would provide an envelope. I'm thinking they would be around 10.00. Would love to know what you think! Your help is appreciated!
So here's the other card if you want to see the colors I used HOPPY EASTER.
Just a note: I've begun to use E11 to shade her face on top of the E000. I like it!
TIP: I color the cheek area and face first with E000, putting a little extra on the one cheek. Then while it's still a little wet (fast!) I add my R20 to one cheek at a time and blend with E000. It helps the edges of the cheek color not be so obvious. Then I do the other cheek the same way

I have some April birthday cards and that Thank you to my sister to get done tonight so I hope to have a post tomorrow as well! Thanks for check out my Post Easter Tilda!
Have a lovely spring day!!

Magnolia-licious Sketch for April!

Hi! I love a day off work! It allowed me time for a nice long, early morning walk and then time to complete my April sketch card! Our sketch is my the amazingly talented and fabulous Claudia of Pretty Pressings! She kept it nice and simple so the possibilities are endless and I love that! Thank you, Claudia!
My card base is Purely Pomegranate and I used dp from Basic Grey (Green at Heart) and cosmo Cricket (Farm Fresh). They mixed beautifully, IMO. I used images from Magnolia-licious, of course- the Open Gate and Tilda with eggs in her Apron. The sentiment is from Inky Antics. For details on making and entering a card this month, please visit our Magnolia Highlites Blog!
Once again, I forgot to write colors down and in a rush to clean up my desk I put the markers away. Sorry, I'll try to do better!
The bunny is because my friend LISA of KIND CREATIONS is so good at staging her cards that I wanted to try it! I've got a lot to learn! LOL!
My new car came to me yesterday! The dealer brought it down (an hour away) because we had driven there twice this week! I love it! It is another Subaru Outback (DH would add "Motortrend's Sport Utility vehicle of the year!") I traded in my blue one for a beauty-ful green one!
My winner of the Honey Bee Tilda card that I colored for the Copic creations Challenge, Mar 15 is # 18 chosen by Random.org
Barb, an RN is Michigan, this is you! Please contact me at drowley6@stny.rr.com with your address when you get a chance!
Have a great day, everyone, and thanks for visiting!

A Hatchling!

Hi and thanks for coming by my Cottage! This is another card I finished over the weekend and just now have time to post. Another adorable Tilda from the Hoppy Easter collection at Magnolia-licious! I used more of the Magnolia made paper (also from Magnolia-licious!) as my background. Then I added a floral from my new Basic Grey Kioshi pad-love this new collection! It's so perfect for spring! I had the card put together and then decided the ribbon needed to be woven into the lattice punch. Well, I had glued it down really well! What a mess. I was able to punch a new one and cover the place where the top of the paper pulled off! Great save! The my bow was sort of small so I added some of the green chandelier beads that I got from...that's right... Magnolia-licious!
I had Book Club on Monday and DH and I have also been car shopping so I'm not getting much else done this week. The first of the month (How did that happen already?!) is tomorrow so there will be another Copic Creations Challenge posted-I'll get it done somehow!! In the next couple of days there will also be a new Magnolia DT monthly challenge posted on our blog! Yikes! (And, we pick up my new car tonight!)
I'm sorry, I didn't keep track of colors this time :(
Welcome to my new followers and thanks to all my followers! Love ya!
Have a great day!

Hoppy Easter!

Good morning! I really appreciate you coming by and I apologize for not posting the last three days. I don't know where the time goes on the weekends! I cleaned and created, but didn't get around to posting!
On the other hand, is there a better collection for Easter than Magnolia's Hoppy Easter? I think not!! This is #3048 Bunny Tilda! She is on preorder right now (sorry!). The cart is #601 Wagon of Eggs and is available at Magnolia-licious! AND here's the PAPER!
I colored the wagon and cut it out with a rectangle nestability. While in the die I used my 1 inch stencil brush to brush Aqua Mist ink around the rectangle. Then I used a little Distress Vintage Photo right over it so the color wasn't so bright. When I do a background this is how I do it-I don't own the compressor for my copics.
The wagon is colored with Y21, E31, E33, E25 and E29. The grass is YG01, and YG25. The eggs are BG0000, BG10. The wheels are BG10 and BG72. Miss Bunny Tilda herself was colored to match this wonderful Magnolia paper! It isn't really pink, it's a perfect match for SU's Pale Plum! I used markers RV0000, RV93 and RV11.. My card is an unusual 4 3/4" x 51/2". And finally, is my attempt to one of the beautiful flower clusters all you creative, talented crafters are doing- I'm not very good at it!
Have a great Monday! Me, I wish I didn't have to go to work today! But, oh well, it's off to work I go! Hi, Ho!
Thanks again for stopping by! Love ya!

Hey, Chickie!!

Good Monday morning to all! My Hoppy Easter stamps came on Friday and I got many of them stamped right away! They are all so terrific, but I remember when Diana first opened her preorder and showed us these images-this was one of the first ones to catch my eye! She is soooo cute in her costume! After choosing the image I chose the sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge blog. She has some really great ones! Then I set to coloring our sweet Tilda! She came out just as I hoped she would. I found this oval in a stash of cut ovals that I had discarded from previous cards-the bottom was aqua so I put it back in the Spellbinder's Die and used my stencil brush to swirl on some Adirondack lettuce ink! Perfect background!
I chose my papers from the recent Cosmo Cricket release 6x6 pad. I got the card laid out and decided the Kraft needed a stamp so I called on my SU background-linen.
Once I got the buttons on I needed something on the left so decided on this single flower and some fern punches.
No room for a sentiment on this 4.5" x 4.5" card so I will finish the inside with a layer of dp and then use my "Hey, Chickie!" sentiment for a hello card to a friend. She doesn't need to be just for Easter!
She makes me smile!
Wishing you a terrific day! Thanks so much for a great blog week last week! I have my attempt at a Distressed Tilda card for you tomorrow!

Tilda with egg for Featured Stamper

Good Monday morning! Well, I finished this card last night but didn't have the umph to get it posted! It looks like I had a lot of visitors yesterday! Thank you! I hope you found something enjoyable on my blog even though there was nothing new!

This card is for the Featured stamper on SCS yesterday! Julie, but am I the only one who had not made the connections that JustWriteDesigns is THE Just Write Designs with the great monogram stamps!? Duh!

Well, this adorable (do I alwasy say tha?) Tilda with her decorated egg is a CASE of a fall card that Julie made. I used the butterfly grass from the Magnolia Spring kit. I also used Aqua Mish, Pumpking Pie, and Kiwi Kiss papers with my MME "Bloom" paper. OMGoodness, how much do I love these colors!
I want to put a sentiment in the lower right corner (something small), but I don't want to upset the balance of the card. KWIM? So it is as it is!

I used stickles on the butterflies and on her egg for some nice sparkle and Copics to color here.
And on that note, here are the colors:
E000, E01, R20, Y21, E31, E33, E35, E25 Face and hair
YR16, YR68, Y17, Y15, YR07, Y13, YG17, YG23
BG10, Bg11, BG72, BG49
Thanks for coming by today! I hope have a great day!

Happy Easter Tilda

This is my favorite Tilda from the Easter Collection and don't you LOVE this egg! Me too!
Edited to correct: She is from the Love Collection and the egg is from the Easter Collection! As you may have noticed I almost always cut my images out (and often put them on dimensionals). Tilda is cut out, but with the detailed flowers on the egg image I just couldn't cut the egg out.
After I stamped it on white cardstock I colored and made a mask with a post it note. Then I softly colored the bg using aqua ink from pads, applying it with my stencil brush in swirl motions. It looked bland so I also added some pink. I'm sure you can notice my blunder, but all cards are unique, aren't they? I placed Tilda on the egg without adhesive and used my copic C1 to make an outling where she was going to sit. After moving her, I added more C1 and some C3 to give her a shadow. Instead of dimensionals, this time I stuck her on with glue dots. She;s a little bit raised because of their thickness.
I want to point out that when I cut my images I also cut the area between the legs. I don't have anything special to cut with, just my Cutterbee scissors from Joann's. I just cut up the edge of the sock to get to the unwanted area and snip it out. Easy!
I used shimmerz on the egg's ribbon and on Tilda. Maybe if you click to enlarge that will show up.
Oh, one more thing, do you see the cobblestones below the egg? Neat technique we learned in Copic class from Marianne. I colored the area in two shades of brown, then used a juicy blender pen (0), laid it down and waiting a few seconds. It pushes the color away! Neat, huh?
I'm sorry this is getting long. If you keep reading it will be worth it!
I get my stamps from Daina Crick at Magnolia-licious!
She has a free shipping deal going on, BUT there's more! She has an even bigger deal for the members of her Yahoo group, Magnolia-licious! Just apply and you will hear back very soon that you are accepted and take advantage of Diana's members only sale! See I told you it would be worth it!

FS111 Bunny Heaven!

Hi and Happy Sunday! I think this bunny would be in heaven if he could munch on these tulips!
I really love tulips and recently got this Penny Black stamp at my LSS. I colored the stamp with watercolor crayons from SU and then spritzed and stamped it on Papertrey Vintage Cream card stock. I had Taylor's cupcake challenge in mind when I started the card, but when I saw Beate was the Featured Stamper, I kept going and gave it her special touch. She often adds a sentiment or image to the edge of the main panel. I have had this little bunny FOREVA! It says All Night Media on the side and the Penny Black image is called Brush Tulips. I left the image in the nestability die and sponged some Soft Sky to it. The scalloped frame is dotted with Liquid Pearls. The main card is stamped in Vintage Cream with Papertrey Ink's Background Basics Retro.
We have another sunny day in WNY. DH and I plan to make the 3 mile walk around the lake in a little while!
For now, I have to get some things ready for tomorrow! I'm going to go with a friend to Marianne Walker's Copic Training in Buffalo! I am so excited! Lisa and I will see at least two other friends there! Some things are just worth taking a day off work!
Hope your week starts on a high note, too!

First day of Spring card!

Well, it's the first FULL day of spring! I actually colored this wonderful Tilda with tulips and Alota Rubber Stamps basket a few days ago. My card needed to be large to accommodate the basket so it is 5.5" square. I stayed with a tried and true layout, made my own flower (with a Sizzix die) and my own stickpin. Tilda and the basket are colored with my copic markers. Decorative paper is from Stampin' Up and Basic Grey. I added grass in the basket so Tilda had a soft place to sit. I'm so sorry, but I don't have colors written down for this card.

I have lots I hope to get done today. It's still a little chilly to get started in the flower beds, but there's enough to do in the house! I may even get another post in because the Inspiration Challenge on SCS looks good!
I noticed I have 100 followers! Wow! I think it soo amazing the YOU come here to see my creations and I can't tell you how much I appreciat it! THANK YOU!!
I hope you like my card today!
Have a really great day!

IC171 Rabbit Trio!

This card is for today's Inspiration challenge on SCS. Stef didn't have to tell me twice that I could use some of the pieces from Fitz and Floyd to make an Easter card. This bunny bowl caught my attention right away! (Unfortunately i don't know how to transfer pictures very well so it's hard for you to see!) Please check it out
HERE!

I've had these cute bunnies from Whipper Snapper for awhile and they are so quick to color! I used my copics, of course! The bunny punch from Martha Stewart (that's new!) is punched into dp from Basic Grey.
I used Kraft cardstock for my card base and stamped in with Papertrey Ink's Retro backgrounds in Vintage Cream. Nicole Heady does such inspiring work!
So this one is pretty simple and I thin I could mass produce it pretty easily and maybe get my Easter cards out on time!
Thanks for takin' a look! It's a wonderful sunny Saturday here in Western New York (Yes, it's still cold!) I've got some house work to get done and then I am going to work (well, play!) with some Magnolia stamps. My sister-in-law invited us for dinner tonight. She's a great cook and is making Corned Beef and Cabbage (Do I hear a YUM!). I love it AND I don't have to cook!
Well, to work!
Hope your Saturday is all YOU wish for!

IC169 Room Service

Good morning! I've been at this card for while and it's almost noon here! I think I should have quit on it sooner as the flowers are sort of overkill! It seems I am incapable of just using one flower or of using flowers without Martha Stewart leaves! My focus was intended to be this beautiful Tilda and my new found love, stickpins. So I should have stuck to a smaller embellishment in the upper right. Anyway, this Tilda is from the Love Collection, but I think she looks like she is in her Easter outfit. Remember getting a new Easter dress and hat for church? We always did. I only wish I looked this good in a hat! Never could wear them! My Tilda came from Magnolia-licious!
She is available there right now on EZ mount ready to stick on an acrylic block. I just love her!
Here is my close up. And for the first time, I've taken a picture of my markers. The Ciao that you can't see are E00, E02, RV000, and R85. I forgot to photo the browns which are E33, E35 and E37 with a darker brown then used for touches.

Upon posting this I'm going to go in and edit my Lilac Tilda post with the copics used. It was the post on Thursday, Feb. 26, in case you are interested!
Thanks for taking a look. I think I'll do another card with this girl and ditch the flowers! I think she needs a little shimmerz on her hat ribbon, too! Wow, can I spend a long time on a card!
Have a great Saturday! Cheryl
(Thanks for all the lovely comments here and at The Greeting Farm yesterday!)
