Just Us Girls #234

Hello and Happy Saturday!! I'm so glad to have ended that work week! It was a tough one, but today is a day for creativity!  I finished this card last night for the Just Us Girls wild card challenge.  It's the 5th Saturday in a month and Marisa has this great challenge!  Make a tall and skinny card. Please see our blog for details on playing along and for much inspiration from the DT gals!
Now, for the confession-I sort of goofed on the challenge and I hope Marisa (our lovely hostess) won't send the challenge police after me-my card does not quite meet her dimensions as listed on the blog.  Sorry Marisa-I read the post too quickly!
For my card base I used one of the many greens I own-perhaps lucky limeade or kiwi kiss or even one of Papertrey Ink's greens.  Sewed onto that is PTI designer paper in Simply Chartreuse.  The image is layered on Harvest Gold (PTI) shaded with More Mustard.
My image is drawn by the amazing Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper Designs and called Daisies Smile Upon You. You can find it HERE.http://www.whippersnapperdesigns.com/daisies-smile-upon-you-18771.html My image is stamped on watercolor paper and cut with an MFT pierced rectangle die. I used reinkers to watercolor my image.  I want to add stickles to the centers and glossy accents to the jar, but I was just out of time!
The sentiment is dotted paper from PTI in Harvest Gold also layered on Harvest Gold.
In the top picture you can see I used a Martha Stewart punch to make a white lacy edge to my card.
Below you can see with the added sparkle and glossy accents!
We really hope you will join us in the challenge this week. Chic of the Week winners are eligible to become our guest designer in an upcoming month-June, this time, I think! You have until Thursday (4/3) at 9:00 pm to show us your creation!
In the meantime, have an enjoyable and creative weekend!  Thanks for stoppin by!

TIME OUT CHALLENGE!

Hi!  There's a new challenge out in Blogland called TIME OUT challenge.  Take some time out to create something!  This is the last day for their first challenge "Dancing in the Rain", but I think you have until tonight to enter.  There will be another challenge posted soon and you have TWO weeks to create something!
Here's the blog:
(My good friend, Lisa, is on the challenge team!)

My card uses a High Hopes stamp that I've had for awhile.  I love to color their images!! This one is colored with my copics. As it happens I used similar colors to out current challenge at Just Us Girls!  See post below for that challenge-you have until Thursday evening to enter that one!
I think the current High Hopes challenge running is for SPRING so I plan to enter this card in that challenge as well!

Thanks for coming by today.  Copic colors are posted for the card below.  Same ones were used in addition to some grays from the 'T' group!

Thanks for coming by!! Cheryl

Challenge #233 Photo Inspiration!!

Hello!! You have just got to see what we have for you today over at the Just Us Girls Blog!  The inspiration is....well.... it's INSPIRATIONAL.  The photo Nancy has found just makes me want to create more cards with the colors/theme!! Please check it out.

.
My card is somewhat different than my DT buddies.  When I saw the balloons I thought of this adorable Tilda from Magnolia-licious and when I found her I also found the stamp of 4 balloons you see in the background.  She is stamped on Xpress it blending card and colored with my beloved copic markers!
I knew I wanted to pick up the greens and blues in the Inspiration photo so that drove my color choices.  On pinterest I found a hair color I liked and used those colors.   The background piece is cut with My Favorite Things pierced rectangles and Tilda is cut out and curved then mounted on dimensionals.  I didn't want to punch my main piece to put the ribbon through so I just poked it behind her legs and tied it.  The card base is baja breeze and the paper is from Graphic 45. Of course, the balloons and parts of Tilda's outfit are covered with Starduss Stickles for tons of sparkle
Here's a close up of this sweet girl.  I am so happy with how this card came out! I've missed my Tilda's and think I better get back to coloring one a week! It's good therapy for this tired teacher!
Thanks for coming by!! Please let this challenge take you up and away and create something to share with all of us!
(Keep reading for copic colors)
Thanks for coming by!  Cheryl

LEGOS

Hello and TGIF!!  I'm so happy that it is Friday that I couldn't sleep past 4:00 am so I'm getting lots done before work today!  First up is a recent LEGO card I made!  I know some little boys who would be crazy about a card like this!  The 'boy' this one is going to is actually in his 30s!

It's pretty simple, too!  Just a 1 inch punch, some bright card stock and sponges for shading along with a 3/8" circle punch that I found on Etsy for only a couple of bucks!  With shipping the total cost was about 5.50!  I used PTI's poppy red and blueberry sky and SU colors Gumball Green and Summer Sun.  TIP: for the circles, just shade a bit of the cardstock BEFORE PUNCHING with ink and sponge.  It's too hard to sponge these dinky circles!  You get more ink on your fingers than on the card stock!
The circles are glued onto the card stock with Tombo liquid glue.  I found this worked better than glue dots since you can move them around a bit to line the dots up.  Glue dots make them much tougher to move.
As I look at my card the top LEGOS might be glue dots and the bottom glued! I'm not sure because I made a bunch of LEGOS and then put them on cards. Of course, putting the circles on dimensional pieces would look neat, too, but I was going for a quick card!

That's it for me today!  Please return tomorrow!  We have a new Just Us Girls challenge (photo inspiration) and I colored up a Tilda (Magnolia-licious) for it!

Have a great day! Cheryl

Easter Delivery II

Hi!  I don't want to wish my life away, but this week is just crawling by!  Gotta find some energy, 'cuz it's almost time for work!
This is the second Easter card I've made with this stamp.  Scroll down to see the other in yellow. I stamped my image on watercolor paper with Versafine Onyx black and colored it with SU reinkers.
That's REALLY what I'd like to be doing today-staying home and watercoloring images I've stamped!
Please see post below for the link on where to find the stamp.

You have until tomorrow evening (Thursday, Mar. 20) to enter the color challenge over at the Just Us Girls blog!  We'd love to see what you create and by entering you may become Chic of the Week, which then enters you for a chance to be out Guest Designer in May!  Linked below as well!

Have a good day! cheryl

Easter Delivery I

Hi!  I'm so sorry that it's Monday already, but I did get some coloring done yesterday.  I've been in a watercolor mood lately so here's an example.

The stamp is from the great topiary images that Michelle Masters creates for Art Gone Wild.  Here's a LINK to her catalog supplement from AGW.  There doesn't seem to be online ordering, but there is a phone number on the pages.  As I said, they are topiary images, but since the chicken was fuzzy I decided to go with traditional yellow for her.
I watercolored with my Stampin' Up inkpads and reinkers in colors that (besides the chicken) match the colored image on the stamp package.
I'm just crazy about this bunny!  So cute!  I had this one ready for a friend I was going to see on Saturday so there was no time to put stickles on the eggs.  Please come back tomorrow and I'll show you the other one I made, complete with stickles.  (They are actually BOTH in my SCS gallery today, though!)

Time to get ready for work!! See you soon!
Have a great day~Cheryl

And, PLEASE stop by the Just Us Girls blog for inspiration and to enter my color challenge this week-beautiful spring colors are being featured! You have until Thursday evening to enter!

Just Us Girls Challenge #232 COLORS

Hi everyone!  I hope your weekend has started well. I'm so please you came to my little blog to see what I've been doing!  It's my turn to host a challenge for Just Us Girls! I chose aqua, yellow and green as my colors.  You can see the great graphic HERE on the JUGS blog!  Check it out!  There's a ton of inspiration from my teammates there, too!

Here's my interpretation of the colors!  I'm feeling spring even though we had a blizzard earlier this week and there is no green anywhere nearby!  I used Papertrey Ink's set called Scrambled Eggs for my focal image.  It's so fun when there are dies to coordinate with a stamp set!  The background flowers are also PTI, but I can't remember the set right now.  I stamped those flowers with versamark on kraft card stock and embossed them with white embossing powder and then sponged some soft suede around them. The chick and egg are up on dimensionals.
The dp is from PTI in Harvest Gold and Aqua Mist. I must admit that this card is a CASE of one Nichole did when this set came out.
Thanks again for stopping by!  Please join the JUGS team in the challenge this week! You have until Thursday, Mar. 20 at 9:00 PM ET to enter your card with Mr. Linky on the BLOG.
We'd love to see what you create!

JUGS #231 Challenge! Join in!

Hello friends!! I don't mean to be so absent during the week, but goodness I am tired after working all day!  Maybe the time change will make a difference to my evening energy level!  Here's hopin'!
Anyway, Sharyn has a great technique challenge we'd love to show you and have you try along with us.
Please check out all the inspiration on the JUGS blog HERE!  You can also find a link to the tutorial there.
All you need is some ink, cardstock and a Scor-pal (or similar scoring tool).  It's very easy!  I won't be giving up my wood stamps or embossing folder, but gosh, this was fun! I used stamps and dies from Papertrey Ink (Scrambled Eggs).  The grass die is from Memory box or Poppy Stamps. I get them mixed up!  The grass punch is Martha Stewart.  I trimmed my grass some because I wanted you to be able to see the cloud embossing folder I used with Core-dinations paper.  I sanded the clouds to make them a bit white. Not sure you can tell, but that's what the texture is behind Mr. Bunny.
So, I guess that's it. If I've left anything out and you're wondering just ask away in a comment!  But, we sure hope YOU will decide to join us in this fun technique! You have until Thursday, Mar. 13 at 9:00 ET.  If you win chic of the week you are in the running to be our Guest Designer for a month in the future!!
Have a great day and weekend! Cheryl

JUGS #230~It's a sketch!!

Hi there!  So glad you came by for a look-see today!  Over at Just Us Girls we have a sketch challenge brought to you by Vicki!  Hasn't she done a great job  with her sketch idea? I stayed pretty true to the sketch 'cuz I love it sooo much!  Check out all the inspiration on OUR BLOG!

I used an adorable stamp from Whipper Snapper for my card.  I wanted something a bit more vertical and this one fit the bill!  I don't have all my Easter stamps out so couldn't find a sentiment.  The 'thinking of you' fit my banner nicely, though so I used it.
My image is stamped on watercolor paper and colored in with SU reinkers.  The main color is saphron. My dp is from We R Memory Keepers-Hippity Hoppity.  Love those springy colors!!

Please join us this week in creating a card/project using Vicki's sketch!! Entries are all considered for Chic of the Week and therefore a chance at becoming out Guest Designer in the upcoming month! For the month of March we welcome Calypso as out guest designer!!
You have until Thursday, March 6 at 9:00 ET to add your entry to out Mr. Linky!
Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a good weekend!
Cheryl
